2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW was a doctor prior to being inducted into the NKA 15 Sep 50. Upon induction PW was assigned to the 23rd Field Hospital at CHUNGHWA (YD4205). PW deserted his. unit oh 25 Oct 50 with two other Medical Officers at PIHYON (XE3830). PW surrendered at MAENGJUNG-DONG (YD2392) 14 Nov 50 while his unit’s advance party was moving to SUPONG-DONG (XE6479). PW was cooperative and of average intelligence. Information obtained is fairly reliable. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Knowledge of other Units.
251900 Oct 50 in vie of a stream at (XE3836), PW observed approx 2,000 - 3,000 CCF troops retreating on foot north toward UIJU (XE3150). Also observed 20 - 30 horse-drawn arty pieces (type unk). The troops were armed with HMG's and LMG's and rifles. During the period 26 - 29 Oct 50, PW observed 2 T-34 tanks during the day and also heard tanks moving at nights on the highway towards SUPONG-DONG from SINUIJU. PW later heard that it was the 17th Tank Div. During the same period, PW observed truck loads of NK troops and supplies moving on the highway towards UIJU from SINUIJU. Number of trucks and troops unk.
During the period 27 Oct - 2 Nov 50, PW observed several ox cart loads of ammo. cases (type unk) bearing Russian marking, being hauled from UIJU area to ANTUNG. From 1 - 5 Nov 50, during daylight hours, PW observed at SINUIJU, 4 - 5 T-34 tanks crossing the highway bridge from ANTUNG heading toward SONCHON (XE6406). On 3 Nov 50, at SINUIJU, PW heard from a Co Comdr (Sr Lt), name unk, that a 120mm Mortar Unit will move to SAKCHU (XE7372) 4 Nov 50. (Unit designation of Mortar Unit unk.) 061000 Nov 50, PW observed an AAA Unit located approx 1 km away from both sides of a road in the hills at SOKHA-DONG (XE2336). 061700 Nov 50, PW observed a large concentration, approx 2,000 to 3,000 CCF troops, in the hills approx 3 km N of PIHYON (XE3830). Also observed a large number of CCF troops 2 km S of PIHYON. 7 Nov 50, PW heard that there were CCF troops in SONCH’ON (XE6406). Number of troops unk. On 112200 Nov 50, PW observed two (2) tanks retreating from 2 km E of NAECHONG-JONG (YD0396) towards CHONGJU (XE9096). Also heard other tanks moving towards CHONGJU. PW heard from a NK straggler that the tanks were from the 17th Tank Div.

b. Communication.
The CCF utilizes woven rings of grass of straw as trail markers. They were placed at 50 to 100 meter intervals. PW observed that these woven rings were approx 8½ in dia and he believes that they were used as trail markers because whenever he observed these woven rings they led to a concentration of CCF troops.

4. GENERAL:
a. KIM, Il Sung.
PW heard that Premier KIM, Il Sung crossed the SUPONG-DONG Dam and escaped to HARBIN (MANCHURIA) in the latter part of Oct 50.

5. SPECIAL EEI:
a. Information on SUPONG-DONG Hydroelectric Plant.
PW heard the following rumors on 25 Oct 50:
That 2 of the 3 turbines were not in operation.
That 2 of the 3 turbines were taken away by the Russians.
