LEE ( 李 ), fnu, 34, 2nd Bn CO.

7. FOOD AND AMMUNITION SUPPLIES:
Food was obtained from Korean villages. PW believes ammunition came from MANCHURIA by mule.

8. MORALE:
PW believes that the morale was fairly high, the food was plentiful and the troops all were willing to help NKA. The cold weather does not seem to bother many of the troops. The troops do not care whom they fight for; and if fighting for CCF against others, enduring hardship was considered part of a soldier’s life.
He saw UN surrender leaflets on many occasions, but that the majority still did not believe in them. They believe they would be killed if they surrender.

PW saw 2 US PsW the day he deserted. They were being treated well.

10. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
PW heard that howitzer Bn with 8-9x152mm M-1943 Howitzer was attached to the 89th Div. This 152mm Howitzer Bn was with the Div when PW deserted. (Hearsay)
There was no friction between CCF arid former CNA troops. He believes the Chinese were needed to aid KOREA and the majority believed so. They are well prepared for the cold winter although quite a fern already have started suffering from trench foot and frost bite (roughly 10%). The winter uniform could be worn inverted serving as fair camouflage in snow.
