2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was in geed physical condition at time of interrogation. PW very cooperative and information obtained considered fairly reliable. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
PW joined the Nationalist Army 17 Aug 48 and served until captured by CCF 2 Nov 49. PW was an assistant squad leader while with the Nationalist Army.
PW was assigned to 39th Army, 117th Div, 351st Regiment. 39th Army Headquarters was located at CHAN CHUN, CHINA, then moved to CHINSHO, CHINA. Date unknown. 351st Regiment trained at KWANSHI for 2 months, FUNAN for 2 months, HONAN for 3 months, then trained at RYOYANG until 10 Oct 50. PW stated that they received the same type of training (basic training) during this time; however, training during the last month was accelerated.
18 Oct 50 351st Regiment crossed the YALU River. Location of crossing unknown. 39th Army and 38th Army crossed the YALU River. Dates unknown. Route taken after crossing YALU River unknown. PW stated that 351st Regt was located 2½ to 3 miles from (direction unk) UNSAN. All 117th Div also located in vicinity. On 180500 Nov 50 a squad (11 men) was ordered to an outpost position. Marched approx 30 minutes to their destination. PW's duty was to fire a few shots in the air if enemy troops were sighted (to notify regiment). On 180800 PW observed UN troops; however, voluntarily surrendered without signaling his regiment.

b. PW's Unit:
39th Army composed of 115th, 116th, 117th Divisions and 1 Div Arty (no. unk). 117th Div: 351st Regt, others unknown. 351st Rept: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Inf Bn, 1 Arty or Mortar Bn. 3rd Bn: 7th, 8th, 9th Inf Cos, 1 HMG Co, 1 Arty Btry.
Weapons: INF Co: (150 men) 3x120mm mortars, 9 LMGs (US) and rifles.
HMG Co: (160 men) HMG (no. unk), Mortars (no. unk)
Arty Btry: Unknown.
3rd Bn: (approx 700 men) 3 US Bazookas.
Regt: (approx 2,500 man or more).
Ammo:
60 rds per rifle issued before crossing YALU River. PW told ammo supply critical. Told to make every shot count.

c. Communication:
PW believes telephone and wireless utilized.

4. GENERAL:
a. US PW’s: Observed 3 or 4 US PsW as UNSAN 9 Nov 50.
b. Morale: Morale among troops very low. No desire to fight a hopeless war.
