1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW very cooperative and of average intelligence. PW was a rice dealer prior to entering service. Information obtained is considered fairly reliable. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
PW was drafted into the Nationalist Army, at SHICHON Sep 47. Captured by elements by CCF at LIYAOSHI Nov 48. Immediately assigned to 39th Army, 117th Div, 351st Regt, 3rd Bn,
8th Co at LIYAOSHI. Received approx 1 month training. Departed LIAOSHI Dec 48, and arrived TIENTSIN. Stationed at this location for approx 3 months and received field training. Moved to HUNAN and stationed here for approx 7 months. During this period engaged in training. Departed HUNAN on or about Jan 50 and arrived HUANAN Jan 50. Stationed at this location for approx 6 months. Departed HUANAN Jul 50, and arrived LYOOYANG. Departed LYOOYANG (marched) Oct 50 and arrived SHIOUJUN. Departed SHIOUTUN by train and detrained at KUANTIEN. Crossed into NORTH KOREA approx 20 days ago. Location of 39th Army crossing unknown, Locations and destination after crossing into NORTH KOREA unknown to PW.

b. PW's Unit or Group:
PW stated that 39th Army composed of 115th, 116th, 117th Infantry divisions and Div Arty. 117th Division composed of 349th, 350th and 351st Inf Regts and an Arty Regt. Each Regt composed of 3 Inf Bns and an Arty Bn, 3 Inf Cos, 1 Heavy Weapons Co comprise a Bn. Strength of 39th Army approx 50,000. Strength of division approx 15,000. Strength of Regt 3,500 or more Arty Bn composed of 3 batteries.

Weapons:
Inf Bn: 4 x 82mm Mortars, 9 x 60mm Mortars, 2 x US Bazookas, 27 x LMG's, 6 x HMG's.
Arty Bn: 4 x Mortars (cal larger than 82mm mortar), 4 x 122mm Field Guns.
Each Infantry Company has 9 x LMG’s. Troops armed with American M-1 rifles and Japanese rifles.
Communication:
Telephone communication utilized between company and battalion. At high level unknown.
Food am Ammo:
PW stated that ammo brought with them constitutes their supply. No re-issue when ammo exhausted. Food sufficient,
Morale: Low among troops.
Casualties: 2 KIA, 1 WIA in 3rd Bn.
Other Units:
PW stated that 38th, 40th, and 41st Armies crossed into NORTH KOREA prior to 39th Army. Date unknown. 1st Bn located on right flank and 2nd Bn located on left flank approx 600 yards N of Hill 252.

4. GENERAL:
a. US PsW:
PW heard from his superior office that US prisoners confined in UNSAN. Number unknown.

b. Tactics:
Prior to attack bugle is blown, When patrols contact enemy 1 shot fired in air to signal platoon located approx 30 meters away.

c. Personalities:
117th Div Commander: JUNG JEN CHUN (rank unk)
No knowledge of dismantling hydroelectric equipment in NORTH KOREA. No knowledge of airfields.
