ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 2564　6 December 1950

FIELD REPORT (24 Div - LDI - 0109)　17 November 1950

PW appeared to be in good physical condition. Average intelligence and cooperative. Although PW was a machine gunner, received no training. Spent most of time in Army retreating north, Deserted his unit at CHONGSANJIN (XE5674) 29 Oct 50, Arrived ANJU & Nov 50 and stayed at relatives for approx 1 week.

PW conscripted at UNBYOKUMYON 11 Oct 50, Assigned to unit located at ANJU. Following day unit withdrew to KAECHỌN (YD5195.) Unit strength approx 700 - 800. No weapons or vehicles. Vic KAECHON, attacked by air and unit was somewhat disorganized. Reorganized by drafting men from vic KAECHON. Unit withdraw to PONGSANMYON via WON-NI (YE5106), YONGBYON (YE2515) and TAEKWAN arriving 21 Oct 50. Enroute PW heard that unit element of 6th Div. Unit retreated further north to SANGGAN-NI (XE 6268) arriving 24 Oct 50. Moved to CHONGSONJIN 26 Oct 50. Unit moved between CHONG SANJIN and SANGGANNI twice. PW deserted his unit at CHONGSANJIN 29 Oat 50.

At CHONGSONGJIN PW observed large numbers of CCF passing by in column of twos for 30 minutes. heard from a villager that these troops were crossing the YAL River into MANCHURIA.

At TAECHON on 3 Nov 50, PW heard that many CCF in vic of town.
