1. PERSONAL DETAIL:

ORGANIZATION: Chinese Peoples Liberation Army (中國人民解放軍), 38th Army (38軍), 2nd Div (2師), 5th Regt (5团), 3rd Bn (3営), 9th Co (9連), 1st Plat (1排), 2nd Sqd (2班).

PW suffered from a leg wound.
Information is extremely limited because PW is not only uneducated, he is intelligent. Reliability should be judged accordingly.

There were some Koreans (number unknown) who served as interpreters for the 2d Division. They joined the 2d Division in MANCHURIA (date unknown). No other information.

3. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted into the 38th Army (CCF) during 1948 at SHENYANG (MUKDEN).
Departed from SHENYANG o/a 11 Oct 50 by train with the entire 2d Division and arrived at ANTUNG o/a 14 Oct 50.
Departed from ANTUNG (MANCHURIA) o/a 20 Oct 50, marched at night over the automobile bridge across the YALU River, and arrived at SINUIJU (KOREA) o/a 20 Oct 50. Continued marching (at night only) south until 26 Oct 50, when PW was wounded in his leg by small arms fire. As PW was unable to walk, he surrendered to advancing ROK infantry men when his unit was forced to withdraw northward at 261700 1 Oct 50.

PW stated that there were no Russians or Japanese attached to the 38th Army.

5. ARMOR AND ARTILLERY:
Observed 5 tanks (type unknown) at SINUIJU o/a 20 Oct 50.

6. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
Received an average of 2 bowls of millet daily.
An unknown amount of small arms ammo was delivered daily to the 2d Division. It was carried from MANCHURIA by CCF soldier (units unknown).

8. GENERAL INFORMATION
PW is not a volunteer for Korean service; his unit is not a volunteer unit; and he was not given any instructions as to what to do in the event of capture.
The 38th Army has not under gone amphibious training.
CNA personnel and equipment were integrated into the CCF units capturing them.
PW's officers told him that the CCF was aiding the "Korean Democratic Peoples Republic" (North Korean Government) because CHINA must protect "democratic" countries in the Orient.
