19 Oct 50: PW, Unit CO, and rest of the men surrendered as they found P'YONGYANG already in UN hands.

Unit Organization and Strength:
Original Organization and Strength:
The Signal Supply Unit consisted of 50 men and was directly attached to the Advance Hq which was formerly at SEOUL.

Equipment:
Signal Supply Unit as of 5 Sep 50 at UIJONGBU.
There were three trucks; about 150 telephones, 75 wireless telegraphs; and approx 10,000 km of telephone wire.

Unit Duties:
Served as a supply Co for distribution of signal equipment to front line units.

Intentions:
Believed that the two trucks loaded with 40 men arrived safely in KANGGYE. They were to have obtained equipment when they arrived there, since the NKA Hq with the Signal Corps Section was relocated in KANGGYE 18 Oct 50.

Personalities:
Signal Supply Unit CO - LEE, Yong Ok, Lt Col, Age - 40 9?). Worked formerly at the P'YONGYANG Radio Station.
P'YONGYANG 1st OTS Commandant - CH'OE Hak Il, Sr Col, age - 50 (?). A graduate of a staff school in Russia. Former officer in the Russian Army.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of unit was very low due chiefly to the fact that the majority of the men were conscripts. Second reason - lacked training and equipment.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Foreign Elements:
17 Oct 50: P'YONGYANG, PW saw Soviet Advisers two days while he retreated from UIJONGBU and stayed in P'YONGYANG. PW believed them to be officers, however they wore civilian clothing. By noon of 19 Oct 50, all important figures residing in P'YONGYANG were to evacuate to KANGGYE. The Soviet Advisers (about 8 men) probably have gone to KANGGYE.

For the Commanding Officer:

GERARD
