At about 1900 hrs the PW saw approx 2000 Chinese troops approx 8 km N of PIHYUN on the road to UIJU. The troop's broke camp and started N towards UIJU (義州). He saw more Chinese troops 2 km S of PIRYUN along the road leading south from PIHYUN to SUNCHUN. He heard from his hospital commandant SONG YU SOP that PIHYUN was the Hq for the Chinese Forces. The number of troops seen on this date was not known. The informant states that the CCF marked their paths with woven straw or twig rings 25cm in diam and dropped them approx 50 to 100m apart. It was further stated that it was the tendency of the CCF to pick low hills covered with pine along side the roads as their camp sites. The PW states that other NKA personnel who talked to the CCF troops were told that the Chinese were not afraid of air strafing and that they believed battles were decided by artillery.
