2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was sincere and cooperative. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
17 Sep 50: Inducted and sent to the PYONGYANG Military School. Enrolled in the supply class.
3 Oct 50: Graduated, commissioned a Jr Lt and assigned to the 47th Div, 2nd Regt, lst Bn as a Bn supply officer.
9 Oct 50: PW departed with 13 others from PYONGYANG by truck to report to the 47 Div, in SINUIJU, arrived 13 Oct 50. The balance of the men were assigned to various other units.
21 Oct 50: 2nd Regt was ordered to CH'ARWON-WAN (XE 3717) departed (RR) arrived 21 Oct 50. The 2nd Bn was ordered to CH’OLSAN (XE 4402) to prepare defensive positions and arrived 21 Oct 50.
26 Oct 50: The 2nd Regt was then ordered to KUSONG (XE 9228) marched and arrived 28 Oct 50.
30 Oct 50: The Regt retreated toward SUK'CHU, but took up positions at TAEAH-DONG (XS 8947) approx 12 mi N of KUSONG. The 1st Bn took up positions on high ground east of the main road and RR. The 2nd & 3rd Bn on the west side on high ground with the intention of ambushing UN forces coming through the narrow road pass.
1 Nov 50: UN forces were attacked and a fire fight began. PW surrendered 1 Nov 50.

Original Organization & Strength:
47th Div (As of 31 Oct 50) - Total strength - approx 7,700.
3 Rifle Regts - 6,600 men. 1 Arty Regt - 1,100 men.

Last Known Composition of Unit (As of 1 Nov 50):
47th Div - approx 7,000. 2nd Regt - 1st Bn approx 600 men annihilated, 2nd & 3rd Bn approx 23 wounded, 20 killed, 50 deserted.

Equipment:
2nd Regt (As of 1 Nov 50):
Approx 40 x 82 mm M1941 mortars; 20 x 76 mm M1942 arty; 40 MAXIM M 1910 HMG; 2 x 76 mm M1942 AT Gun; 1 GAZ-51 truck; 3 Coal burning trucks; and 3 GAZ-67 Jeeps.

Communications:
7 TAM field phones, and 1 telephone Couriers are used as messengers.

Clothing:
2nd Regt, 1st Bn was completely equipped with padded winter clothes. Clothes were made by civilian families under military orders, and delivered to various collecting agencies throughout the area.

Food:
Rice is collected from the security forces arid the troops ate on an average of 3 times a day, 800 grams of rice were issued per person a day. Soya sauce, peanut oil, cabbage, and pork are requisitioned from city, town or village tax collecting agencies. Beef was scarce so pork was issued. All requisitions must have the Regt CO’s signature and stamp.

Intentions:
47th Div was to fight a rear guard action to SAKCHU (XE 7373).

Remarks:
The NKA personnel refer to the CCF as the People’s Liberation Army. A strong feeling of resentment is rising among the NK civilian population. Reasons given were: prolonging the war against UN forces, climatic conditions, and the critical food situation, The CCF method of just taking away whatever food items available from villages does not improve civilian morale.
