ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 2387　27 November 1950

FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS - Special Report No 0168)　20 November 1950

PW cooperative. Tried his best to answer questions in the affirmative. Reliability, fair.

27 Jan 49: Volunteered for the CCF in CHINHUA-TSUN (錦花村). Received basic training for 2 weeks. Training consisted of close order drill. Approximately 70 men.

? Mar 49: With 70 man, departed CHINHUA-TSUN (錦花村).

? Mar 49: Arrived YUANLAN (舒蘭). Received infantry training for 2 months.

29 May 50: With 300 man, assigned to the. Independent 2nd Rifle Regt, 2nd Bn, 5th Co, 3rd Plat, 11th Sqd, departed YUANLAN (舒蘭).

1 Jun 50: Arrived CHILIN (吉林). Received 2 months of guard training, Duties were to guard supply warehouses, towns and villages for one month,

? Jul 50: 2 Korean Bns of approx 370 men ordered to KOREA.

? Jul 50: Arrived North KOREA and assigned to the 5th Div, NKA. The 5th NKA Div, was comprised of men formerly with the CCF. Strength of the 5th Div, approx 10,000 men. Enroute to KOREA, Rail Route #28 was used as far as TUMEN (圖們).

The equipment listed was used in MANCHURIA when PW’s Bn, comprised of Koreans departed for KOREA. This equipment was brought to KOREA as T/O equipment.

Independent 2nd Rifle Regt, 2nd Bn, 5th Co

His unit, the 2nd Rifle Regt, was in CHILIN (吉林).

PW’s entire unit did not come to KOREA. Only the Korean Nationals in the unit departed for KOREA.

PW states that the 11th CCF Div, comprised of Korean Nationals came to KOREA before his unit, There were approx 7,000 men in the unit.

Pvts to Jr Lts monthly pay scales were the same - 37,000 YUAN.

CCF fed 3 meals daily, Each meal consisted of Millet and bean oil. Every 2 weeks 1 meal of pork soup. 3 meals of rice once a week.

Two sets of summer clothing, and one sat of Winter clothing were issued.

In the CCF, political officers assemble the units once a month and tell them that:

(1) The Americans are had and the Communists are good people.

(2) The Communists must fight the American dogs and their partners, CHIANG KAI SHEK (將介石) in particular.

(3) All nations who join American are Capitalist and always make the poor people poorer and the rich people richer.

(4) Russia is the champion of all.
