SPECIAL EEI

RECRUITING PROGRAM
At the time of the Pill's entry into the army, the CCF required each province to furnish a certain number of men. It was the responsibility of the provincial leader to decide how many men were to be taken from each village. The village leaders assembled all the men between the ages of 18 and 30 and exhorted those with the fewest dependents to join tile army. If they did not volunteer, they were unable to get rationed goods and were not allowed to live in the village, besides this, they were deprived of their citizenship

PAY OF PERSONNEL
Personnel from the grade of Pvt to Sgt received 1500 yuan per month. A Sr Sgt and M/Sgt received 1800 yuan. (Hearsay)

RATIONS AND CLOTHING
Shoes, food, tobacco and wine were rationed in 1948. In the CCF, kaoliang millet and rice were fed twice a day in winter with an extra meal of rice porridge in summer. Normally there was enough food. Pork was fed about once a week. Hot water was the only beverage.

ATTITUDE OF THE CIVILIAN POPULATION
The army did not steal. They repaired roads and helped the people so they were liked and cooperated with by the people.
