2. ASSESSMENT:

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
23 Sep 50 - Pre-induction physical examination at YONGHUNG (永興).
24 Sep 50 - Inducted at HAMHUNG (咸興) and assigned to the newly organized 1st Co with 150 inductees. PW received 6 days of military training.
1 Oct 50 - The 1st Co departed HAUHUNG.
6 Oct 50 - Arrived at PYONGYANG (平壤) and attached to the 9th Regt as the 1st Co of the 1st Bn.
o/a 15 Oct 50 - The 9th Regt HQ and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bns departed PYONGYANG for KANGGYE (江界). The 1st Co of the 1st Bn, however, departed for CHANGJIN (長津). A Bn (designation unk) organized of well trained soldiers, selected from the 2nd and 3rd Bns remained in PYONGYANG to defend the city proper.
4 Nov 50 - The 1st Co arrived at CHANGJIN. On arrival the 1st Co’s original strength oi 150 was down to 16 men. The majority had been killed or had deserted while enroute PW deserted.
19 Nov 50 - Captured at KOTORI (古土里) by 5th Marines.

4. ORGANIZATION:
The 9th Regt was composed of 3 Inf Bns, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bns. Each Bn had 3 Cos.
Strength of the 9th Regt was estimated at approx 1,500 men prior to departure from PYONGYANG. The majority of the personnel were inducted during Sep and Oct 50.
The Regt’l weapons were unk. The 1st Bn (600 men) was equipped with 5x82mm mortars, 4 LMGs and 3 HMGs and only ½ of the men were armed with rifles.
