3. MILITARY HISTORY:
4 Aug 50 - Inducted at SEOUL.
8 Aug 50 - 3,000 inductees left SEOUL on foot.
18 Aug 50 - Arrived at CHORWON (鉄原).
19 Aug 50 - 1,000 inductees left CHORWON on foot and arrived at YUDEPORI (遊台浦里) 30 km NW of CHORWON (鉄原). Assigned to a training camp. Constructed trenches.
5 Sep 50 - Inductees left on foot, and arrived at KALMA (渴馬) (Approximately 12 km E of CHORWON).
12 Sep 50 - Inductees left KALMA (渴馬).
13 Sep 50 - Arrived KUMHWA (金化).
21 Sep 50 - Departed KUMHWA (金化).
1 Oct 50 - Arrived WONSAN (元山).
5 Oct 50 - Departed WONSAN (元山).
10 Oct 50 - Arrived HUNGNAM (興南) and assigned to the 1st Co, 2nd Bn, 249th Unit.
15 Oct 50 - 1st Plat, 1st Co left HUNGNAM (興南).
18 Oct 50 - Plat arrived at CHUNGPYONGJANG (仲坪陽).
21 Oct 50 - Plat left on foot and arrived at NUNGNI (陵里) (located 8 km N of PUNGSAN (豐山). Established a defense line.
16 Nov 50 - PW was captured by UN Forces when unit was disorganized by aerial attacks.

4. FOREIGN ELEMENTS:
None observed.

5. WEAPONS AND PERSONNEL:
Organization - 249th Unit was said to be a shore security unit. The unit was pa trolling the coastline of HUNGNAM (興南). PW had no knowledge of Bns other than the 1st, 2nd, and 3d Bns under the 249th Unit. Did not know how many companies in a Bn or their strength. 1st Co of the Ind Bn had 3 plats. The 1st Plat had 130 men armed with rifles and 100 rounds of ammo per man, one MAXIM HMG and one AT rifle. 1st Plat was ordered to move to PUNGSAN (豊山), but due to aerial attacks, established a defense line at NUNG-NI (陵里). On 16 Nov Plat was disorganized by aerial attacks.

6. SUPPLIES:
1st Plat received no supplies after leaving HUNGNAM (興南). Food was requisitioned from local civilians. Requisition for food was submitted to the local civil affairs committee, which, in turn, requisitioned it from the farmers. Receipts were issued by the NKA in some instances.

7. MORALE:
Morale was low because of food shortage and aerial attacks. Members of the 1st Plat heard of the CCF intervention but were all disinterested in it.

8. NK SENTIMENT:
The majority of civilians showed an attitude of resentment toward the NKA.
