3. MILITARY HISTORY:
12 Sep 50 - Inducted at TOGWON (德原) and assigned to the Central Naval Hospital as a medical Corpsman. Received 15 days of medical training.
28 Sep 50 - The Naval Hospital received orders to move to YONGWON (寧邊) and all personnel departed TOGWON on foot. Approx 40 little cases were transported by 2 trucks and about 30 were carried by doctors, corpsmen and nurses.
15 Oct 50 - The medical staff arrived at YONGWON and occupied a former middle school.
16 Oct 50 - PW deserted.
12 Nov 50 - Captured at SANGWON CHON by ROKs.

4. ORGANIZATION:
The Central Naval Hospital was known as the 963rd Unit (code number). The medical staff consisted of 20 naval medical officers, 50 medical corpsmen (naval enlisted personnel), 40 nurses, 9 cooks (including 4 civilians) and one Russian medical officer as supervisor (identified as a Major). The Russian Officer left the hospital 26 Sep 50 at TOGWON and was not seen at YONGWON.
The medical equipment and medicine of the hospital included immunization needles, scalpels, sterilization equipment, bandage, operating table, penicillin and sulfa drugs. They were mainly obtained from Russian and Japanese sources.
A Captain and several other high ranking naval officers inspected this hospital once while at TOGWON.
