2. ASSESSMENT:
PW seemed to be of average intelligence, was cooperative and talked freely.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
2 Aug 50 - Inducted at HUNGNAM (興南) and assigned to the 4th Co, 357th Ind Security Unit, Ministry of Interior. Received military training here for 45 days.
20 Sep 50 - 4th Co and part of the 2nd Co of 357th Unit were transferred to HAJOYANG (下漕洋) approx 20km N of HAMHUNG to become part of 145th Ind Security Unit.
23 Sep 50 - The 145th Ind Security Unit left HAJO YANG and moved to HAMHUNG and then to HUCHANG (厚昌) approx 70km NE of KANGGYE (江界).
29 Oct 50 - The unit arrived at HAGARU RI. PW deserted and started for his home in TANCHON (端川). PW believed 145th Unit went to HUCHl1NG as planned.
15 Nov 50 - Arrived at SANGTONG (上通) and gave himself up to 5th Marines.

4. ORGANIZATION:
The 357th Ind Security Unit was composed of 4 Cos and each Co cf 4 Plats.

5. STRENGTH:
Strength of the 357th Unit was estimated at between 500 and 600 men. This was before the 4th Co and half of the 2nd Co were transferred to the 145th Unit.

6. WEAPONS:
Every man in the 357th Unit was equipped with a Japanese rifle. (38 model), 80 rds of rifle ammo and 2 hand grenades. In each Co, PW observed 2x7.62mm “DEGTYAREV” DP LMGs and 10 PPSH SMGs. No heavy weapons such as Arty, tanks or mortars were observed.

8. ORGANIZATION AND STRENGTH OF 145TH IND SECURITY UNIT:
The 145th Ind Security Unit was organized at HAJOYANG (下漕洋) o/a 20 Sep 50 out of the 4th Co, part of the 2nd Co of the 357th Unit, and elements of other units.
The 145th Ind Security Unit had 3 Cos of 4 Plats each.
Original strength was estimated at approx 380, but when the unit arrived at HAGARU RI on 29 Oct 50, the strength had decreased to 250. About 130 men deserted on the way.

9. WEAPONS IN THE 145TH IND SECURITY UNIT:
Every man was equipped with a Japanese rifle (38 model) or Russian rifle “MOSSIN-NAGANT”, 70 to 100 rds of rifle ammo and 2 hand grenades.
In the 145th Unit, 30x7.62mm “SHPAGIN” PPSH SMGs, and 10x7.62mm “DEGTYAREV” DP LMGs were observed. No heavy weapons such as mortars, Arty or tanks were observed.

10. OBJECTIVE:
The objective of the 357th Unit was to guard all factories in HUNGNAM. The objective of 145th Unit was unknown since the unit had to withdraw as soon as it was activated,
