2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative and sincere. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
16 Jul 50: Inducted into the 101 Security Force “City Bn” at P’YONGYANG. PW's Bn was to maintain order within any city which might be assigned to the unit.
22 Jul 50: Unit departed by RR as far as SEOUL, then walked to the CHINJU front 5 Aug 50.
15 Aug 50: Unit was routed by UN forces. PW with 4 others started to make his way N to their homes.
25 Oct 50: At SABUNG-MYON PW was picked up by 9th Div officers and assigned to the 1st Regt. On this date a very important political meeting took place in KUMHWA. The officers were informed by the former Chief Justice LEE, Song Hup, that the Chinese Communist troops were now fighting against UN forces. The 9th Div was to hold its area and harrass UN supply and communications until the Chinese arrive there to join them.
13 Nov 50: The 1st Regt was ordered to attack P’YONGGANG. The 9th Div Hq was located in the KUMHWA-MYON Area. Approx 50% of the personnel had arms. Those without arms were told that when they entered the city arms could be found. They were also told to use the arms of any wounded soldiers PW was taken prisoner by ROK forces while on this mission 13 Nov 50.

Original Organization & Strength:
9th Div (as of 13 Nov 50) - Approx 1,500 to 1,600 men.
Composed of 2 Regts: The original 33 Brigade was divided and with additional small units they formed the 1st and 2nd Regts of the 9th Div.

Last Known Composition of Units: (13 Nov 50)
Approx 1,200 to 1,300 men still together within the KUM HWA-MYON Area.

Equipment:
9th Div (13 Nov 50) - Approx 800 M1891/30 rifles, approx 160 PPsh M1941 SHG & M1943. Tommy Guns, 1 x 82mm M1941 m mortar, 2 MAXIM HMG M1910, 12 DP LMGs.

Clothing:
Summer uniforms. No winter uniforms were available.

Food:
Food is requisitioned from the farmers. The troops were fed on an average of 2 times a day,

Communications:
Runners are used to carry messages.

Morale:
Morale is very low, because of the weather, food, clothing and the hopeless situation. The uppermost thought among the troops is the lack of news about their families.
