3. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Food:
A 4 day supply of hard wheat bread and corn bread was carried from ANTUNG by each soldier. Sometimes the troops ate 3 meals a day. Number of meals per day depended on the length of march, accomplished the night before.
After the supply of food ran out, the Korean interpreters and road-guides attached to the unit were dispatched to the nearest village to demand a certain amount of food (mostly kernel corn) without payment. The village head was usually forced to amass the desired amount of food under threats of violence to his property and crops.

Clothing:
Winter clothing was issued to all personnel in the 335th Regt in ANTUNG during early Oct 50. It consisted of the following: cotton-quilted coat, cotton-quilted trousers, wool lined headgear, combination rubber, leather and canvas shoes.
When PW entered KOREA, he found that the NK troops wore identical uniforms.
The issue uniforms are warm enough to withstand the winter months of KOREA. In MANCHURIA the outfit had to be supplemented with a cotton-quilted overcoat.

Communist Indoctrination:
PW has never received Communist Indoctrination while in the CCF. His unit did not teach him to read and write. PW was completely ignorant of Communistic principles and ideas.

Personnel of 112th Div, 38th Army:
PW estimated that the approx 80% of the 112th Div were former CNA soldiers, who were captured in combat and conscripted into the CCF.
True CCF soldiers dominated the lives of the former CNA men. The latter were never permitted to go beyond the camp limits. If given the opportunity, the majority of the soldiers (former CNA) would desert and return to their homes.
An unknown number of NK personnel (interpreters and road-guides) attached to the 335th Regt, 112th Div, PW believed that they joined the 335th Regt at SINUIJU (新義州) KOREA.
PW knew only that the 335th Regt of 112th Div crossed the YALU River. He did not know whether his unit was intact and under the same chain of command either before or after crossing the YALU.
PW did not know whether 335th Regt entered KOREA as a defensive or offensive unit. Its objectives was also unknown. PW did not know his Army or Division strength.
