2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
17 Aug 50 - Inducted and sent to TANCHON (端川) by train with 5 others.
18 Aug 50 - Arrived TANCHON. PW was assigned to the 9th Company. others were assigned separately to different companies. There were 11 training companies in TANCHON each consisting of 150 men. Here PW received basic training for five days.
23 Aug 50 - Troops from these 11 companies left TANCHON by train (estimated strength - 1,100).
o/a 30 Aug 50 - Arrived CHORWON (鐵原). Troops had to walk part of the way due to damage from UN air raids to rail lines.
o/a 31 Aug 50 - PW, with about 100 others, marched 8 km east to YUNG-JI MYON (陽地面), and were assigned to the 25th Brigade, 3d Bn, 1st Arty Co, 3d Sqd. PW received advanced training.
10 Sep 50 - PW and 9 others, who were primary school graduates, left the unit at night on foot. A private was in charge of the group.
11 Sep 50 - The group arrived at TEKWAN MYON (大光面) where it was assigned to 32nd Div, 3d Regt, Arty Co for Arty Training.
8 Oct 50 - The division commander (name unknown) (rank, probably Lt General) left for MANPOJIN (滿浦鎭) in his private jeep (Hearsay).
9 Oct 50 - The 32nd Div left TEKWAN MYON. PW believes this was due to lack of arms and the advance of UN Forces. The division marched at night only. PW was promoted to Sgt.
10 Oct 50 - SINGYE (新溪).
11 Oct 50 - SUAN (遂安).
12 Oct 50 - YUL-LI (栗里).
13 Oct 50 - KANGDONG (江東).
14 Oct 50 - SUNCHON (順川).
15 Oct 50 - KAECHON (价川).
18 Oct 50 - Arrived at HUICHON (熙川). Received two days rest.
20 Oct 50 - The division left HUICHON and marched North.
25 Oct 50 - Arrived KANGGYE (江界). Here, the troops were told that the division would continue to MANPOJIN. PW deserted the unit with two other pvts.
14 Nov 50 - PW was captured at ANSUMYON (安水面).

4. ORGANIZATION
32 Division
The Ind Bn consisted of 2 Heavy Weapons Cos of Unknown strength with 4 HMG's; 2 Arty Plats of thirty men each (no artillery pieces); an AT Plat of 30 men (no AT Gun); a 45mm Howitzer Plat of 20 men (no howitzers); 2 Inf Cos of 150 men each (unarmed); an 82mm Mortar Plat of about 30 men (no mortar); an Engr Plat of 40 men (unarmed); a supply platoon of about 20 men (unarmed); and an Assault Plat of 15 Snipers (armed with 4 rifles), one of whom is attached to the various platoons during combat, for the purpose of killing enemy officers. Total strength - about 720.
The Arty Co of the 3d Regiment had 88 men (unarmed).
Each Inf Bn consisted of 3 Inf Cos of about 150 men each (Cos of the 1st and 2nd Regts were armed with PPSH submachine guns and rifles, but the Cos of the 3d Regt were unarmed) and various other attached units, about which source had no detailed information. Total strength of each battalion unknown.
Each Regt had about the same strength.

6. FOREIGN ELEMENTS:
On 25 Oct 50 at KANGGYE, PW saw approximately 500 CCF marching south. In addition, 20 “KUNDANPO” (軍團砲) Division Field Pieces, were observed, each pulled by three horses.
a/o 29 Oct 50 - 10 Rm NNW of CHANJIN (長津), PW saw approximately 200 CCF camping near the river. PW observed no weapons or equipment due to the darkness.

7. CODE NUMBERS :
Code numbers were unknown but PW's Arty Co was called “KAMAGI” (crow). This was to prevent enemy recognizing this unit as 76mm Co.

8. MORALE:
Due to the lack of food, clothing and continuous marching, the morale of the troops was low. PW heard, his comrades often saying that they were foolishly fighting for the Russians. Troops tried to escape whenever possible. Out of 80 men in PW’s Co at least 15 desserted when they arrived at KANGGYE.

9. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
12 Nov 50 at YAKSURI (藥水里) (약수리) PW saw about 400 NKA troops dug in facing south of the mountain slope. YAKSURI 32 Km SW of YANGPYONGNI (陽坪里).
