PW was cooperative and sincere.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
21 Jul 50: PW was inducted into the Security Force in P’YONGYANG, assigned to the 101st Unit 4th Co.
23 Jul 50: PW with 1670 men departed by rail, arrived in SEOUL. Moved to SUWON. From SUWON, the unit marched and arrived at the MASAN, CHINJU front on or about 3 Aug 50.
17 Aug 50: PW’s unit was routed by UN Forces.
31 Oct 50: PW was again recruited at ICHON while on his way home and assigned to the 6th Div, 8th Regt, 2nd Bn, 1st Co.
8 Nov 50 : PW with 23 men were on their way to defend an area in the vicinity of ICH’ON was taken prisoner by the UN Forces.
Organization and Strength:
6th Div comprised approximately 2000 men as of 8 Nov 50 after it was regrouped.
Equipment:
6th Div (As of 8 Nov 50)
approx 1400 M1891/30 and Japanese Rifles
approx 100 rounds per man
approx 150 PPSh M1941 SMG
All heavy weapons were either destroyed or discarded during the retreat from the NAKTONG River front.
Communications:
Telephone and runners were used.
Clothing:
No winter clothing was issued to the troops. Approximately 30% have thin summer blankets. The remainder have no blanket whatsoever.
Food:
Food situation was fair. Troops ate twice a day. Food gathered from the people.
Intentions:
The 6th Div was to hold the ICHON area and if possible harass the UN Forces until the Chinese Communist troops could come to Join them. This information was relayed to the troops by the Div CO.
Personalities:
The 6th Div CG is now the CG of the newly formed 6th Div.
