PW was very cooperative and fairly talkative but his information was limited. Information is fairly reliable.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
4 Aug 50: PW was conscripted at SANG AM GU (雙庵区) and sent to CH'WI'YA-RI (추야리). Assigned to 3rd Div, NKA. Received 20 days training.
25 Aug 50: PW departed CH'WI'YA-RI by train. Train was unable to go farther than INJIN due to a bombed-out bridge. PW’s unit marched for 18 days to NAKTONG River.
Mid-Sep 50: PW reached vicinity POKSONG DONG, approximately 4 km from NAKTONG River. 3rd Div started retreating North next morning. 15 days after crossing 38th parallel, 3rd Div was regrouped. PW promoted to Jr Sgt.
8 Nov 50: PW retreated North as far as KUMCHON where he was captured by local Security Unit.

Unit History and Disposition:
3rd Div reached vicinity NAKTONG River on or about 16 Sep 50 and retreated without firing a shot. (PW stated that when he started South his unit had no weapons). After crossing the 38th parallel (going north) on or about 15 Oct 50, the 3rd Div was regrouped and renamed, the 48th Ind Regt. Did not receive weapons until this date.
Morale:
Unit’s morale was low because most of the men had been forcibly conscripted.
4. GENERAL INFORMATION:PW saw one soldier (IM Gunner) shot by his platoon leader, by order of Div CG for abandoning his gun when the unit was retreating.
