2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very intelligent and cooperative. Reliability - Good

3. CHRONOLOGY:
13 Apr 48 - Inducted at TUHGHUA-SHIH (敦化市) and assigned to 11th Co, 3rd Bn, Ind 4th Regt, CHILIM Military District (吉林 軍区 玁立四団 三営 十一連).
19 Nov 48 - Approx 2,500 men from 4th Regt, CHILIN Military District were transferred to LIAOHSI-SHENG, TAHEISHAN-TSUN (遼西省 大黑山村), and assigned to 156th Div, 43rd Army, 15th Army Group, 4th Field Army (第四野 十五兵団 四十三軍 百五六師). PW was assigned to the 37 mm AT Gun. Co, 467th Regt, 156th Div (百五六師 四六七団 三十七籷 戰矻連).
21 Nov 48 - 43rd Army began to move west.
10 Dec 48 - Arrived HOPEI-SHENG, TUNG-BSIEN, HSUKUOCHUANG (河北省 通縣 許各莊).
27 Feb 49 - 156th Div departed south.
5 Jun 49 - Arrived CHIANGSHI- SHENG, NANCHANG-SHIH (江西省 南昌市).
21 Feb 50 - Approx 5,000 Koreans were sent to CHENGCHOU (鄭州).
2 Mar 50 - Arrived CHENGCHOU (鄭州). 5,000 more Koreans were added.
A total of approx 10,000 were assigned to the Ind 15th Div, CHINESE PEOPLES LIBERATION ARMY.
PW was assigned to Engr Plat, 2nd Regt, Ind 15th Div.
10 Apr 50 - Ind 15th Div departed CHENGCHOU.
15 Apr 50 - Arrived MUNPYONG-RI (文坪里) approx 12 km NW of WONSAN (元山) via SINUIJU (新義州).
25 Apr 50 - Ind 15th Div, redesignated the 7th Div, NKA.

5. ORGANIZATIONAL BREAKDOWN OF CHINESE ARMY:
CHINESE ARMY
MAJOR CAMPAIGNS
TUAN FENG Battle (团阒戰鬪) - 466th Regt, 156th Div fought o/a 29 Apr 49 at YANGTZU CHIANG (揚子江) for 1 day.

PAY OF PERSONNEL
(1) Monthly pay was in script, but was based on goods. PW was based on 500 grams of pork and 500 grams of millet (高梁米) per month called CHING TEN FI (津貼).
(2) A wound allowance was paid twice annually over a period of three years. There were three classes of wounds:
1st class - Head wounds:
2nd class - Chest wounds
3rd class - Arm or leg wounds.
Minor wounds did not receive allowances.
It was decided by the Division Medical Officer whether or not the wound warranted an allowance.

CAPTURED NATIONALITS TROOPS
Sep 49 - Approx 140,000 Nationalist soldiers were captured by the CCF at CHANG CHUN (長春). Approx one month later, they were assigned to the CCF. Approx 5 - 6 men were assigned to squads. These men were treated the same as original CCF members.
Captured equipment was used by the CCF.

RATIONS AND CLOTHING.

PROPAGANDA
The general line of propaganda instruction by political officers to troops was as follows:
“We must destroy the American Capitalist.”

DAILY SCHEDULE OF TRAINING AND INSTRUCTION
2 months basic training period was given to troops in the CCF.
1. Recruits were taught:
a. Forget about your family and do everything for your country.
b. You must follow your leaders.
c. Articles of war.
d. Hygiene.
2. Political training:
a. Russia is the best country at present.
3. Miscellaneous:
a. Close order drill.
b. Squad drill.
c. Bivouacs
d. Rifle drill. (At the end of the rifle training period, three (3) rounds were fired.
