ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 2326　21 November 1950

FIELD REPORT (521 - MISD - 0264)　17 November 1950

PW cooperative and spoke freely. Reliability, good.

l Oct 50 - Inducted at YONGCHONG NI (龍泉里). 570th Regt organized. PW assigned to unit. All personnel were recruits except NCOs and officers.

8 Oct 50 - Entire Regt departed YONGCHONG NI and arrived SUSONG (輸城) same day.

5 Nov 50 - Regt departed SUSONG on foot and arrived CHUURONJANG (朱乙) same day.

8 Nov 50 - Regt departed CHUURONJANG for CHUBUNMYONG (朱面). Part of 1st and 2nd Bn departed CHUBUNMYONG for CHUCHONHUJANG (朱乙場).

11 Nov 50 - Regt 11 Service Unit departed CHUBUNMYONG. Engr Co took wrong route and encountered ROK troops on 12 Nov 50. PW captured near TUNAM DONG,

2 Nov 50, at SUSONG (輸城), PW observed a Russian Major who acted as the 570th Regt advisor. Present whereabouts unknown.

Org: 570th Regt (11 Nov 50): 2 Inf Bns and Regt’l Service Units. Regt’l Service units were composed of 1x120mm Mortar Co, 1x76mm Gun Co, 1x45mm Gun Co, 1 Engr Co, 1 PPSH Co, 1 Comm Co, 1 Recon unit, and 1 MP Co.

Strength: Regt’l Service Units (11 Nov 50): 400 men. Regt’l strength, unknown.

Weapons: One Bn (11 Nov 50): 3x120mm mortars, 7x76mm guns, 7x45mm guns, 70 PPSHs, and each man armed with MOSIN 1891/30 rifle w/100 rds. 30% of men received 2 hand grenades, some of which did not have any fuses. In addition, there were 30 trucks and 4 jeeps.

507th Regt was to engage ROKs at HUEMOON (会文). During a Regt’l meeting it was stated that a Naval unit and the 507 Unit would assist in this engagement.

80% low; plan to desert at the first opportune moment.

20% high; members of Labor Party, Officers and NCOs.
