FIELD REPORT (521 - MISD - 0261)　17 November 1950

PW was cooperative. Reliability, good.

8 Aug 50 - Inducted at HAMHUNG (咸興) and attached to 585 Unit,

3 Sep 50 - Entire unit departed HAMHUNG by rail.

12 Sep 50 - Arrived KILCHU (吉州).

4 Oct 50 - Entire unit departed KILCHU. 585 Unit integrated into 507 Unit, which was newly activated.

11 Oct 50 - 300 men arrived CHONGJIN (淸津); 200 departed following day for KILCHU, and 100 assigned to Naval Unit.

15 Oct 50 - 200 men arrived KILCHU, assigned to 1st Bn, Supply Plat.

6 Nov 50 - PW saw 2nd, Jrd and 4th Bns retreating N at KILCHU, 1st Bn joined in retreat.

9 Nov 50 - PW captured near MYONGCHON.

Org: 507 Unit; 6 Nov 50:

6 Bns of 3 Inf Cos, 1 HMG Co and 1x82mm Mortar Co. Each Co consisted of Signal Plat, Recon Plat, Supply Plat and Medical Plat. Present locations of units unknown.

Strength: 6 Nov 50: 1st Bn - 365 men.

Weapons: 1st Bn; 6 Nov 50:

2x45mm guns; each man armed with either a Russian or US rifle w/100 rds and 2 hand grenades.

Low; troops realized they were fighting a losing battle.

Received one set of winter clothing at KILCHU.

Received two meals daily consisting of millet and rice.

PW heard 507 Unit Hqs moved from KILCHU (吉州) to PONGGANG (風崗) during the retreat on 6 Nov 50.

Heard from Supply officer that retreating elements were to assemble at KYONGSONG (京城), HOERYONG (會寧), or MUSAN (茂山).
