2. ASSESSMENT:
Reliability: Fair

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
2 Oct 50 - Conscripted at CHINNAMPO and assigned to 594 Unit. Prior to being conscripted received 2 mos of basic training while working at a steel plant in PYONGYANG.
19 Oct 50 - Deserted at HANCHON (漢川).
30 Oct 50 - Captured in MUNCHON by 1st Marines. During the period 2 Oct 50 to 19 Oct 50 PW was attached to the guard Co of 594 Unit.

4. WEAPONS AND PERSONNEL:
The 594 Unit comprised the 1st, 2nd, guard Co, transportation platoon, communication platoon, seaman’s Co and a medical platoon
Strength of this unit was estimated to be approx 700 men. Troops were armed with rifles and 70 rds of ammunition each. Each Co was also equipped with 2 HMGs; 6 AA guns were also seen in the unit.
A Lt commander was in command. The unit was last seen in HANCHON (漢川) and was then headed for ANJU.

5. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
When PW visited HEISAN (惠山) 14 OCT 50 he observed a Chinese Communist Army unit of about 300 men marching through the city.
Troops were armed with rifles and few had pistols and sub-machine guns. Troops were recognized as CCF by their conversation.
On 14 Oct 50 an unknown number of naval personnel of the 594 unit headed for SINUIJU on two water craft (about 800 tons and one much smaller
