27 Aug 50 - Inducted at MUKDEN (奉天), Manchuria, and received 13 days of training. Attached to 370th Regt.
16 Oct 50 - Entire 370th Regt departed MUKDEN and marched via TUNGHWA (通化) and MAPONCHIN (滿浦鎭).
27 Oct 50 - Arrived HAGICHON MYON (下枝天面), and met ROK forces. PW surrendered.
CIRCUMSTANCES OF CAPTURE:PW states that he did not have any idea that he was being sent to NK. Upon arrival at HAGICHON MYON, he was informed by CO that he was to fight ROK units. No orders were received from USSR.
WEAPONS AND PERSONNEL:a. Organization of 370th Regt: (hearsay) Regt consisted of 3 inf bns, 1 HMG co, and other unknown units. PW states that 80% of this unit was only recently inducted.
b. Strength: Approx 680 men in each bn and 170 men in each co.
c. Weapons: 3 X 120 MM mortars in Regt, 3 X 82 MM mortars in Bn, 3 X 60 MM mortars per Co, and 4 X HMGs in HMG Co.
Each man in the Inf Cos had a model 38 Jap rifle w/20-30 rds of ammo and 1 hand grenade. PW states that there was no source of ammo supply from the rear.
FOOD & CLOTHING SUPPLY:Each man of the 370th Regt was issued 1 set of cotton quilted, winter uniform and received 2 meals per day (kolian).
ENEMY INTENTIONS:No routes of retreat or reorganization plans were issued to the units of the 370th Regt.
ATTITUDE OF NK PEOPLE TOWARDS CCF:People were apathetic.
ATTITUDE TOWARD BEING CAPTURED:PW thought that he would be killed upon capture. Because he is treated with kindness, is glad that he did surrender.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:a. CCF and Russian Personnel: No CCF troops observed while enroute to HAGICHON MYON and few Russian officers soon at MUKDEN.
b. Tanks: Observed 3 X T34 tanks near KACHICHAN RI (葛田里). One damaged.
