2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative and gave information freely. He appeared to be of average intelligence.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
8 Jul 50: Conscripted in PYONGYANG (平壤) and entered a military officers school.
5 Aug 50: Completed schooling and promoted to Jr Lt. Transferred to 94th Indep Inf Reserve Regt, 2nd Bn in SHINUIJU (新義州) as platoon leader.
26 Sep 50: 94th Regts Indep Cos, Plats, 1st Bn, 2nd Bn, and 3rd Bn marched from SHINUIJU and reached SHINBYON-NI (市辺里) 14 days later.
10 Oct 50: Departed SHUBYUN-NI and arrived in vicinity of CHANGPUNG (長風). Unit was engaged in combat for 30 minutes before dispersing.
15 Oct 50: PW and 3 other men fled toward SINGYE (新溪), where they surrendered.

Equipment (94th Regt) as of 25 Sep 50:
2 Arty Guns (45mm); 9 Mortars; 10 HMG’s; 40 LMG’s; 200 sub-MG’s; Arty Guns (76mm); Arty Guns (120mm); 3 trucks; 45 field telephones; 5 Wireless (dual radio & telegraph); and 1 switchboard, telephone.

Unit Duties:
The 94th Indep Reserve Inf Regt, during the period 5 Aug 50 to 25 Sep 50, was assigned the task of defending SHINUIJU (新義州). On 26 Sep 50 the greater portion of the Regt was shipped toward SHIBYON-NI (市辺里) to set up defensive positions and to reinforce the 19th Div.

Unit History:
The 94th Regt was activated in SHINUIJU (新義州) on 3 Aug 50 with an estimated strength of 2,500 men. The majority of the soldiers were untrained conscriptees. The 94th was the only organized Reserve Regt in SHINUIJU as of 25 Sep 50.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of PW’s unit was low, because the majority of soldiers were conscripted.
PW observed a few UN propaganda leaflets, was influenced by the contents and surrendered.

4. GENERAL:
Foreign Elements:
During the period 5 Aug 50 to 25 Sep 50, PW observed three Russian military advisors attached to the 94th Regt in SHINUIJU. The officers, one Col and two Lt Cols did not follow the Regt to SHUBYON-NI.
