2. ASSESSMENT:
Information is fairly reliable. Informant was cooperative.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
22 Oct 49: Volunteered in MANCHURIA. Received Inf training.
16 Apr 50: Attended Military School at PYONGYANG (平壤) for 2 months.
18 Jun 50: Assigned to the Ministry to Defense 79th Regt and promoted to Jr Lt. Gave Inf training to recruits for about 25 days.
12 Aug 50: 1st Regt went to SINGYE to the front. PW & 12 others deserted to KOKSAN (曲山).
13 Oct 50: PW surrendered with 12 other men to ROK 8th Div.

Unit Organization and Strength:
Organization & Strength:
19th Div - 8,000 men.

Equipment:
4 x 120mm Guns; 4 x 76mm guns ; 3 x 45mm guns; 3HMG’s and 27 LMG’s. Made in RUSSIA.

Unit Duties: Was to defent PYONGYANG.

Unit History:
19th Div was newly organized at SUKCHON about 19th of Aug 50.

Dispositions:
The 1st Regt of 19th Div retreated towards SUAN (洙安) when attacked by UN forces.

Communications:
There was a radio set and 5 telephones in the 1st Regt.

Knowledge of other units:
The 79th Regt had 3,000 men. This regiment was sent to TAEGU (大邱) are, where was annihilated.

Personalities:
19th Div Regt Comdr - Lt Col CHE, Duk Moo (崔德務).
1st Reg Staff Officer - Maj KIM, Kum Dug (金今德).

Morale & Propaganda:
Units morale was low because the air raids were severe and they were tired of fighting. Didn’t see any propaganda leaflets.

4. GENERAL:
PW saw 3 civilians killed by the Security force at SINGYE (新界). There were about 200 civilians being marched toward PYONGYANG. The 3 men were killed because their feet were swollen from walking and from being wet and couldn’t walk any further.
Informant heard that these 3 civilians were SK farmers who were held at the prison of SINGYE and SEOUL.
Informant identified the soldiers that killed the 3 men as being in the Security Force. They had on dark green uniforms with dark blue epaulets. Officers had dark green uniforms with thin dark blue stripes on the sleeve area. Also had a thin dark blue stripe around the collar. The epaulet was dark blue and there was a yellow star in the center. Names unknown. PW heard that the People’s Liberation Army GHQ was in HARBIN (할빈).
The Peoples Liberation Army is the new name of the former Manchurian 8th Route Army. PW was referred to 8th Army JAG for further questioning regarding atrocities.
