PW was cooperative, information considered reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
25 Jul 50: Conscripted at PYONGYANG (平壤) assigned to military school. Upon graduation became a Jr Lt.
15 Aug 50: Arrived at SINUIJU (新義州), assigned to HMG Co, 9th Bn, 94 Regt. Since there were no machine guns, PW taught close order drill to his platoon for 10 to 14 days. Upon completion of training, men were assigned to new units, and new men arrived to take training. On 26 Sep 50, PW was transferred to 1st Bn of the 94 Regt. On the same day the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bns departed SINUIJU.
10 Oct 50: The three Bns arrived at SIBYON-NI (市辺里) and were assigned to the newly organized 3rd Regt, 14th Div.
13 Oct 50: 3rd Regt arrived at SINGYE, and on the same day 2nd Co was ordered to the front. 2nd Co encountered UN tanks and infantry between SINGYE and MJU DONG (미운동). 2nd Co was completely disorganized when the UN Forces were contacted. PW escaped to 12 km N of SINGYE and was captured by the ROK Army.

The 19th Div was composed of three regts, the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd.
The 3rd Regt was composed of three Bns. The first Bn was composed of three infantry companies, one HMG Co, and one mortar Co. Five Ind Plats. The medical, supply, 45mm Arty, Anti-tank, and communications Plats were directly attached to the first Bn. PW estimated the strength of the first Bn to be approx 700.

Equipment:
1st Bn, 3rd Regt, 19 Div - 20 Sub MG and 2 LMG, (All Russian Make).

Knowledge of other Units:
PW was assigned to the HMG Co, 9th Bn, 94th Regt during the period of 15 Aug 50 to 26 Sep 50.
94th Regt was composed of nine Bns. The 9th Bn was. composed of five companies, three Inf Cos, one HMG Co end one mortar Co. Three Ind plats; communication, supply, and medical were attached directly to the Bn. PW estimated the strength of the 9th En to be approx 700. PW’s knowledge of the unit was limited to the 9th Bn only.
The 94th Regt was a reserve unit and was not equipped with any arms whatsoever. Wooden rifles were used for training.

Morale & Propaganda:
Morale of the men in the 14th Div was low.

4. GENERAL:
Foreign Elements:
During the period PW was with the 944th Regt, he observed two Russian officers during the month of Sep 50, one officer was observed twice and the other once. One of the officers was wearing two stripes and two stars, and the other was wearing one stripe and one star, names unk. They came in a Russian-made jeep with the 94th Regt 1 cultural officer to observe the men training.
