PW was cooperative and information seems fairly reliable. PW has no information on codes and signal.

LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNIT:
On Sep 50, PW was wounded while on duty with Hq I Corps at SAMGA, Three platoons (High Power Transceiver Platoon and two Medium Power Transceiver Platoons) of the 573rd Independent Signal Regt were on duty with Hq I Corps at that time.
Eight cryptographers (All Sr Lt) from the Ministry of Defense were on duty with Hq I Corps on 6 Sep 50.

PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
PW was inducted on 2 Dec 46 at SINUIJU. PW received training with Constabulary Training School at HOERYONG until October 1948.
During Oct 48, PW was transferred to Central Wireless Bureau located in PYONGYANG as telegraph operator.
During May 49, PW was commissioned as Jr Lt because of general enlargement of NK Army and was assigned to 573rd Signal Battalion (Organized Feb 50) in PYONGYANG.
On 28 Aug 49, the 573rd Signal Bn was redesignated as the 573rd Independent Signal Regt.
On 29 Jun 50, PW and his platoon arrived at YONGC’HON.
On 5 Jul 50, PW and his platoon arrived at SEOUL and was assigned to HQ I Corps.
Hq I Corps arrived at SAMGA on 5 Sep 50.
PW was wounded on 6 Sep 50 and was hospitalized at TAEJON.
On 25 Sep 50, the hospital in TAEJON was disbanded and troops were left to their own accord.
PW was captured 071400 K Oct 50 at TYERYON SAN by ROK 18th Regt as he was trying to make his way home.

SIGNAL INFORMATION:
Eight Cryptographers (all Sr Lt) were with Hq I Corps at SAMGA on 5 Sep 50.
Messages were coded and brought to the signal unit for transmission. Signal unit personnel were never permitted near the Cryptographer’s room.
PW was able to give the following information concerning codes used by NK Army:
Each word was made up of four digits.
The first four digits of the message signified which code from the code book was to used.
