FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS - 1201)　19 October 1950

PW is strongly opposed to Communism. He is intelligent and well educated. Returned from Manchuria 1945, Reliability good.

20 Sep 49 - PW conscripted in CH’ORWON into 7th Brig 4th Bn 75mm AT Co, 1st Plat, 2nd Sqd. Received basic training.

30 May 50 - 9th Div 45mm AT Bn, 2nd Co, 2nd Plat organized in SIBYOL-RI (시별리) near KUMCH’ON.

5 Jul 50 - PW left SIBYOL-RI.

15 Jul 50 - PW wounded on KANGWHA Is.

20 Jul 50 - PW entered 23rd Hospital in SEOUL.

10 Sep 50 - PW left Hospital, joined 18th Div, 1st Regt, 1st Bn, 2nd Co, 1st Plat, then at the KYONGI Middle School.

25 Sep 50 - Retreated toward CHUP’U-RI via UIJONGBU.

28 Sep 50 - Unit disorganized in vicinity of UIJONGBU.

Activated 15 Aug 50 in SEOUL with officers from 7th Div, 9th Div, 32nd Brig and 50 officers straight from Manchuria. EM were all from the SEOUL area. 2nd and 3rd Regt fought on NAMSAN (南山) in SEOUL. 1st Regt defended perimeter of SEOUL. All suffered about 50% killed. Remainder of Div scattered N of SEOUL with the intention of regrouping in CHI’PU-RI. 18th Div had 4 Regt, each with 3 Bns of 1200 men.
