2. ASSESSMENT:
PW of average intelligence, Information fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
3 Jul 50 conscripted at PYONGYANG while attending university and sent to PYONGYANG, 1st officers training school for about 20 days.
25 Jul 50 was sent to a Brig (later 12th Div) at CHORWON as a pltn ldr.
17 Sep 50 participated in the battle of INCHON.
11 Oct 50 after a brief encounter with the ROK at SANYANGNI he surrendered himself.

Unit History:
Original Brigade was organized at CHOWON 25 Jul 50, Most officers were students except for a few who were battled experienced, The men were farmers & factory workers, most being 25 yrs or older. Arrived at SEOUL for Security Duty 10 Aug 50.
10 Sep 50 the brigade was redesignated 18th Div, About 1 Regt came from SINUIJU and the rest of the men from the vicinity of SUWON to bring the 18 Div up to about 9,000 men.
15 Sep 50 the 18th Div arrived at INCHON & met with the UN Forces.
27 Sep 50 - Div retreated to SEOUL but only 1st Regt was able to reorganize there.
30 Sep 50 the 1st Regt retreated to UIJONGBU and had a brief encounter with the UN Forces.
6 Oct 50 the 1st Regt retreated further north to CHIPHOLI and again regrouped.
10 Oct 50 1st Regt arrived at SANYANG-NI and on 12 Oct 50 was overrun by ROK Forces.
The 18th Div was made up of four Regt. The 1st, 2nd & 3rd Regt were the Infantry Regts and the 4th Regt was the Arty Regt.

Morale & Propaganda:
Morale of the unit was low due to the fact that most men were forced in service and there was a lack of equipment. No propaganda leaflets seen.

Foreign Elements:
Observed 2 Russian Officers at the Officers Training School at PYONGYANG during Jul 50.
