FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS FWD - 0082)

PW appears not to be a communist, even though he was an officer. He surrendered voluntarily, was sincere and cooperative.

Not recommended for further interrogation.

1 Jun 48 - PW was inducted into the Peace Preservation Corp, UIJU (義州). Received military training for 1 month.

3 Jul 48 - Assigned to 3rd Co, 1st Bn. Peace Preservation Corp.

10 Dec 48 - The Peace Preservation Corp was reorganized into the Security Forces, under jurisdiction of the Interior Ministry.

12 Dec 48 - PW was assigned to the MANPOJUN Security Forces Hq in the grade of Pvt.

20 Nov 49 - Transferred to 3rd Ind Brig of Security Forces, stationed at SARIWON (沙里院). Assigned to Ordnance Section, 6th Bn, in the grade of Sgt.

10 Jul 50 - The 3rd Brig of Security Forces was reorganized into the 9th Div NKA. PW was assigned to Ord Section, 1st Regt, at SEOUL.

1 Sep 50 - 9th Div moved south.

8 Oct 50 - PW commissioned and assigned to Ord Section, 2nd Regt, 19th Div, SONGAKSAN. 19th Div Hq was in NAMCHON

12 Oct 50 - 2nd Regt retreated North.

Rear (Ordnance, Supply, Transportation) 10 officers.

Recon Co approx 70 - 80 men.

Sig Co approx 50 men.

Eng Co approx 70 men.

Medical Section approx 10 Surgeons, 50 NCOs.

3 Inf Bns approx 600 men each.

The 2nd Regt had approx 2,000 men.

PW heard that members of Communist Party would assemble at KIKSAN KWANG SAN (谷山鉱山), SINGYE Area and would be partisans.

Commanding General 19th Div (as of 8 Oct 50) was CHE, Yong Kwon, Maj Gen, about 40.
