Knowledge of Other Units:
PW was told by his Asst Regt CO in Aug 50 that the 11th Div was coming from North KOREA to join in the battle.
While in SINUIJU to get an issue of new uniforms for his Regt, PW met a friend from the 18th Regt, 4th Div. PW’s friend verified the statement about the 11th Div coming from CHINA intact.
The 18th Regt, 4th Div also came from CHINA intact. While in CHINA they were known as the 18th Regt
The 18th Regt received a battle award from NKA Govt in Aug 50m because of their achievements in battle. The news was printed in the NKA Govt newspaper.
The 5th and 6th Divs’ personnel (all Koreans) came from KUANGT’UNG (廣東) section of CHINA. They were formerly a part of the Chinese Communist Army. The NKA Govt had the Koreans Divs within the Chinese Communist Army transferred to KOREA.
The 5th and 6th Div entered KOREA approx May 49, at SINUIJU. The 5th Div was then stationed in SINIJU while the 6th Div was ordered to NANAM.
All of the 5th, 6th, 11th Divs and 18th Regt personnel were completely equipped with American uniforms, blankets and arms when they first entered KOREA at SINUIJU. All American equipment was turned into and new Russian uniforms and equipments were issued, The American arms and equipment were stored in SINUIJU.
Some time in Mar or Apr 50, 7,000 Korean replacements were brought into KOREA from CHINA. The replacements were recruited from NAMKING and as far south as KUANGT’UNG.
4,000 of the replacements with 2,000 North Korean recruits were organized to form the 83rd Mtz Inf Regt, 105th Armored Div. PW knew the identity of the 3,000 CHINA-recruited Koreans because they were fed by his Regt when they first reported for duty.
The remaining 3,000 replacements were sent to different units.
U/k number of the 7,000 replacements were Korean female nurses and doctors from CHINA.

4. REMARKS:
Sometime in Sep 50, after the battle of WAEGWAN (倭館) PW overheard a Maj and a Lt Col of his Regt say that the 11th Div of Korean troops that came from CHINA had changed the Div name from 11th Div to the 15th Div. The reason given was to confuse the UN Forces and also to hide the identity of the troops that came from CHINA with their respective units intact.
The original 15th Div personnel were recruited from North KOREA. After the original 15th Div was annihilated by UN Forces, the general opinion of the Un Forces was that North Korean trained troops were quite poor. This is the impression of the NKF’s Govt wanted us to continue to have. Another motive for reversing the names of the 11th and 15th Div was to make the UN Forces believe they were still fighting the poorly trained North Korean troops.

Ammunition Dump Location:
The NKA main ammunition dump is located in KAN-Ni (間里), approx 8 miles NW of P’YONGYANG. This ammunition dump was built by the Japanese. It is located under a mountain and is 4 km wide and 4 km long and approx 15 to 18 ft in height. There also is a big ammunition factory in KAN-Ni. (IN) At time of interrogation, a map of this particular city of KAN-Ni (間里) was not available. It is recommended that a close study of this area be made.
PW with 1,500 soldiers worked one month removing the Japanese made ammunition and re-stocking the dump with various types of Russian arms and equipment. Their work in the ammunition dump took place some time in Aug 46. It was a highly secret project and all of the personnel involved received a medal from the NKP’s Govt. At present the majority of the original personnel involved in the project are either dead of captured. Only a very few people know about this large ammunition dump in KAN-Ni.
