2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very intelligent, sincere and very cooperative. He made no attempt at evasion and answers were given without hesitation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
11 Jan 46 - PW was first inducted into the army in CHI-LIN (吉林) Manchuria and was assigned to the Korean Ind Brigade, 16 Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co. The hq of the brigade was located in CH’AO-YAlNG-CH’UAN (   ).
20 Jan 46 - PW's brigade was ordered to close out a pocket of 200 bandits, located in SHAN-T'OU MAN (三頭滿). The brigade received orders from the Russian occupation army of Manchuria. The reason given was that the bandits had cooperated with the Japanese troops during WW II and had not as yet given up their arms.
25 Jan 46 - The brigade joined in a fire fight with the bandits and PW was wounded just above the right knee and was hospitalized at the Army Hospital in YENCHI (延吉), for 8 months. PW was operated on by Japanese doctors who were still retained by Russia.
Oct 46 - PW was discharged from the hospital and sent to an Army Veterans Association for cripples, where PW was taught weaving. PW spent 3 months there and was discharged Mar 47. Before discharge a job as a weaver was obtained for PW in YEN-CHI. PW received 150,000 Chinese Won as his monthly wages. PW worked there up to 1 Aug 50.
11 Aug 50 - PW was told that all Korean nationals living in Manchuria who have had some military training must report for duty. The order was given by the Chinese Government of that Province located in YEN-CHI. A Korean representative of the North Korean government also had an office in the Bldg and worked with the Chinese officials.
2 Aug 50 - PW with 1000 veterans of various units, such as the RR Guard Force. Factory Security Forces, and Local Security forces reported for duty. PW departed by train and arrived at ANTUNG, then down to P'YONGYANG and arrived 10 Aug 50. From SlNUIJU to P'YONGYANG PW's train travelled only at night, because of UN aircraft. RR tunnels were used during the day. PW spent 10 days in P'YONGYANG waiting to be assigned.
21 Aug 50 - PW with 50 of the original group departed by RR and were forced to walk from KAESONG to SEOUL because the train was bombed. No casualties in the group. Arrived at SEOUL 25 Aug 50. The balance of the original group were assigned to diffferent units from P'YONGYANG.
26 Aug 50 - The group of 50 departed, marched to SUWON and then were loaded on a train and arrived at CHOCH’IWON. They marched to UIHHUNG via TAEJON, SANGJU, UlSONG arriving 14 Sep 50.
14 Sep 50 - PW was told by the 8th Div Personnel Officer that because o:t Iris previous Chinese military training, he was to be given a direct commission as a Lt and assigned to 2nd Co, 2nd Bn, 1st Regt, 8th Div. When PW reported hr duty he was told that the BN was short on replacements and had to wait for a command. PW then worked with the Bn CO up to 16 Sep 50 when the Div retreated in disorder. PW lost contact with his unit, so headed for P'UNG-SAN (豐山) then N to YONGJU (榮州).
