ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 1858　13 October 1950

FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS - 1118)　11 October 1950

PW was cooperative and fairly intelligent, but since he had hid in the mountains for a week, tactical information was unavailable. Reliability is considered fair.

18 Oct 48: Inducted at HAEJU (海州) and sent to the 4th Brigade in CHINNAMP‘O (鎭南浦). Assigned to the 2nd Co, SMG Bn, 4th Brigade and received 6 months training.

15 Aug 49: Promoted to Jr Sgt (下士) and became asst sqd ldr of the Jrd Sqd, 1st Plt, 2nd Co, SMG Bn.

? Dec 49: Sent to the No 2 Central Political School in P'YONGYANG.

8 Apr 50: About 250 st~dents including PW graduated from the No 2 Central Political school and were commissioned Lts (　　　).

10 Apr 50: Assigned to the 3rd Bn, Arty Regt, 10th Div as a Democratic Youth Training Officer (民靑指道員), in P’YONGYANG.

15 Jul 50: The 2nd and the 3rd Bns of the Arty Regt, 10th Div were ordered to join the 8th Div. Bns departed P'YONGYANG by train other regts of the 10th Div remained in P‘YONGYANG.

17 Jul 50: Reached· SEOUL. From here they departed in trucks.

o/a 23 Jul 50: Arrived CHECH’ON (堤川) and attached to the Arty Regt, 8th Div (There was only 1 arty Bn in the 8th Div, before the 2nd and the 3rd Bns arrived).

? Aug 50: The 8th Div reached UIHUNG (義興) via YECH'ON (醴泉), ANDONG (安東) and UISONG (義興). The arty Regt engaged in major battles at YECH’ON and UISONG.

? Aug 50: The 3rd Bn lost 8 x 76mm FA guns, 4 x 122mm Howitzers, 12 trucks and 50 men from UN aircraft bombing at a tunnel located approx 12 km W of ANDONG. However, the 3rd Bn received 6 x 76mm guns, 4 x 122mm. Howitzers, 4 trucks and about 50 replacements at a point 12 km S of ANDONG. The 8th Div remained in the vicinity of UIHUNG until 22 Sep 50.

22 Sep 50: ROK troops advanced towards UISHUNG. The 2nd and the 3rd Bns of the Arty Regt, 8th Div withdrew towards UISONG. PW believes that the infantry troops of the 8th Div who were S of UIHUNG were annihilated at that time.

23 Sep 50: When the 3rd Bn, Arty Regt, 8th Div reached UISONG, ROK troops were already there. The 3rd Bq abandoned 6 x 76mm guns and were able to haul only 4 x 122mm Howitzers by trucks. The trucks headed N. The troops were all scattered at that time. PW was separated from the others and hid in the mountains for a week.

30 Sep 50: PW came down the mountains and surrendered to the ROK police at a village approx 8 km SW of UISONG.
