PW graduated from the TOM MYON Elem School, Oct 47 in KILLIMSON, YONKIL HYON, YONSHINGU, PAK KUM HYAN, MANCHURIA. He was a farmer prior to induction at WONSAN SHI.

PW and three others surrendered when his unit was overrun by UN troops.

PW was forcibly inducted in the army on 26 Jul 50 with about 1000 men from WONSAN. They were assigned to different units without any basic training.

On 26 Jul 50, PW was sent to 563 unit (Regt) which was guarding the MUNCHON shore line.

On 18 Sep 50 PW and his unit moved to SEOUL.

There were 600 men to a Bn and about 150 men to a company.

Munchon Harbor lies adjacent to the Wonsan Harbor. PW saw a zinc factory, and a kerosene factory 6n the shore of Munchon Harbor. The zinc factory was inclosed by a barbed wire fence 1 m 50 cm in height. There was a spur line running to this location. The zinc factory was a concrete building with gable type iron roof, painted black. The kerosene factory was inclosed by barbed fence 1½ m in height. There were four buildings in this inclosure. Six oil tanks were in this area, 3 of which measured 8 m high by 15 m dia, the other 3 16 m high x 20 m dia. The kerosene factory was about 1 km away from the zinc factory. Zinc factory is located 1 km N of MUNCHON MYON along the shoreline. Between the kerosene and the zinc factory is KUMCH'ON MYON. A RR line leads from Munchon RR sta to Kowan RR sta past the kerosene and zinc factories.
