2. ASSESSMENT:
Civil Occupation: Office worker, employed at a freight transport co.
Education: Middle school - 6 yrs, KIRLIMSEN, MANCHURIA, Apr 1930 to Mar 1937.
Subject was cooperative and seemed to give information to the best of his knowledge. Information may be considered reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
Sep 1946 to Feb 1948 - PW was employed at a staff school teaching civilians. Feb 48 to Jul 1948 - staff school was converted into an infantry division. Aug 1948 PW was transferred to PYONGYANG and assigned to National Defense Hq. 20 Jun 1950 assigned to 2nd Army Hq as Engineer Supply Officer. 10 Jul to 18 Sep 50 assigned to Front Line Hq at SEOUL. 18 Sep 50 PW surrendered to UN Forces.

Unit Organization and Strength:
The 4th, 5th, & 6th Inf Regts at the school had a total of 7000 men, 750 officers, & 25 Soviet officers as advisors. The Arty Bn had 1000 men, 200 officers. The Eng Bn had 250 men, 20 officers and 3 Soviet officer advisors. The Communication Bn had 250 men, 20 officers and 3 Soviet officer advisors. The Med Bn had 20 officers, men & Soviet officer advisors unk. The OCS Bn had 350 men, 30 officers and 9 Soviet officer advisors. The Recon Co had 150 men, 15 officers and 1 Soviet officer advisor. The Transportation Co had 12 officers, 100 men and 1 Soviet officer advisor.
The Staff school was converted to an inf div sometime between Feb and Jul 1948. Strength and equipment remained the same. PW was an interpreter for the Soviet officers in the Eng Bn. Designation of the Inf Div unk.

Physical Description: Age - 35-36, height - 5' 7", weight - 65kg, color of eyes - blue.
Decorations worn by general: PW stated the general wore approx 3 rows of ribbons, 4 across, on the left chest. One was believed to be a Hero of the Soviet Union, the highest decoration awarded in the USSR.
PW observed VASILIEV frequently between May 1950 and Jul 1950 at Pyongyang National Defense Hq which was located 1 km N of Pyongyang RR sta. Subject observed VASILIEV once again at Front Line Hq at SEOUL, during latter part of Jul 1950.
