Cooperative. Information seems reliable. No detailed information available after 18 Sep 50 because he was hospitalized. Surrendered with a safe conduct pass to ROK Army.

LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNIT:
Although this unit was designated as a Bridge Construction Bn, the activities of PW's unit were limited to the construction and maintenance of pontoon ferries. Extensive use made of these in the HAN River crossing (1 Jul to 6 Jul 50) and the NAKTONG. River crossing (12 Sep to 18 Sep 50). In the latter operation an vehicles and equipment of the 3rd Div were transported but no troops.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted on 1 Apr 47 at NANAM.
Received engineer training with the Engr Platoon, 5th Regt, 2nd Div from 1 Apr 47 to Feb 48.
Assigned to Engr Bn attached 2nd Div from Feb 48 to Sep 49.
Reassigned to 576th Engr Regt from 2nd .Div on 2 Oct 49.
Remained with 576th Engr Regt located in KAN NI (approx 4 km S of SUNAN) from 2 Oct 49 to 21 Jun 50.
Commissioned as Jr Lt and became a platoon leader as of 2 Oct 49.
The 3rd Co, Bridge Construction Bn, 576th Engr Regt was assigned to 3rd Div at NAKTONG NI on 11 Sep 50.
When PW’s company was bombed by enemy planes, he was wounded and evacuated from PUKSAN MYON 18 Sep 50.
PW stayed in KUMCH’ON for five days and transferred to TAEJON on 27 Sep 50.
When TAEJON came under UN: attacks, all patients in the hospital were evacuated. After leaving TAEJON, PW picked up a safe conduct leaflet and surrendered to ROK troops in vicinity of CHONGJU on 31 Sep 50.

REPLACEMENTS:
Heard that 3rd Div received approx 1,000 replacements at PUKSAN MYON from 12 - 15 Sep 50.
Believes that they came without equipment and ammo. They seemed to be untrained troops.

US PsW:
Approx 58 US PsW were seen marching along KANGAN River approx 2 km E of SEOUL o/a 6 Jul 50.
