Organization and Strength:
PW’s ordnance section was attached to the 2nd Division’s SP Gun Bn. The Ordnance team consisted of 3 men. The original strength of the SP Gun Bn was 115 men. As of 20 Sep 50, PW heard there were about 30 men left in the battalion.

Equipment:
The SP Gun Bn originally had 16 x SU-76, but as of 20 Sep 50, PW heard there were 2 left.

Ordnance Information:
PW’s ordnance section established a repair shop for the 76-mm Guns on the Bn’s SU-76’s at CHONJU. From 15 Jul 50 to 23 Sep 50, no weapon came to the PW’s team for repair. PW stated that the SU-76’s were new and the guns seldom needed major repairs. Minor repairs were made in the field by a separate ordnance team.
PW’s rear echelon ordnance team was to perform only major repairs, such as replacement of barrels, gas or oil chambers and breeches.
He stated that when the SU-76 was disabled the entire vehicle was disabled.
The only parts that the ordnance team carried were firing pin and firing pin springs for the 76-mm Field Guns. If guns required major parts, PW’s ordnance section requested Corps Ordnance Section for them. PW heard spare parts were machined at Corps Ordnance. At that time the Corps Ordnance shop was in P’YONGYANG. If the guns needed repairs beyond the PW’s section’s capability, the weapon was sent to Corps Ordnance Section.

Other Units:
Up to 23 Sep 50, PW’s unit and approx one Bn of Security troops were in CHONJU. They were armed only with rifles.
