2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, intelligent and of good physical and mental condition. Reliability fair. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
23 Jul 50 - Inducted into the 7th Border Constabulary Brigade as a Pvt. Placed on unassigned status and attached to Brigade Hqs at KUMCH’ON, (金川) NORTH KOREA.
27 Jul 50 - Moved from KUMCH’ON to KAESONG (開城).
29 Jul 50 - Moved from KAESONG to UIJONGBU (議政府).
3 Aug 50 - Moved from UIJONGBU to SEOUL.
3 Aug 50 - 27 Aug 50 - 7th BC Brigade was redesignated the 7th division. PW heard that the division received approx 3,000 trained men from HAMHUNG (咸興), 3,000 men from P’YONGYANG, and about 700 men from CHINNAMP’O (鎭南浦). PW heard that the total division strength was about 10,000 men. Div Arty Regt did not have any weapons.
27 Aug - o/a 7 Sep 50 - 7th Div Hqs remained in CHONAN (天安). PW heard that 1st and 2nd Regts were situated in KWANGJU (光州) and 3rd Regt was located in YONGDONG (永同). Disposition of Div Arty Regt, unknown but PW heard that the regt did not receive any guns.
8 Sep 50 - 16 Sep 50 - Div Hqs moved to KWANGJU (光州). 1st Regt was in MOKP’O on 8 Sep 50. Heard that 2nd Regt was enroute to MASAN via NAMWON and HAMYANG (咸陽). 3rd Regt was dispositioned in T’ONGYONG (統營). Disposition of Div Arty Regt, unknown, but heard that the regt still did not have any guns.
18 Sep 50 - 30 Sep 50 - 7th Div Hqs moved to UIRYONG (宜寧), 18 Sep 50, the 1st Regt departed MOKP’O for the MASAN front. 2nd Regt was in the vicinity of CHUNGGYO-Ri (中橋里). Heard that 3rd Regt was completely decimated o/a 22 Sep 50, but details, unknown. Saw 7 x 76-mm Howitzers for the Div Arty Regt arrive at NAMWON o/a 16 Sep 50, and heard that the weapons Regt was waiting for weapons at UIRONG, and the 7 x 76-mm Howitzers were the first shipment of weapons the regiment had received. Div supply dump was located in NAMWON (南原).
30 Sep 50 - Heard that orders for general withdrawal of the Div to TAEJON were received. Div supply dump left intact and the personnel scattered. PW and ration control officer made their way to IWON-Ni.
3 Oct 50 - Captured by US Forces.

Supply:
Gasoline: Since the activation of the 7th Div, the division supply received only 1,750 gallons of motor fuel. By 1 Sep 50, the division fuel supply was completely depleted.
Rations: Until 25 Sep 50, 100% of he rations consumed by the 7th Div were locally procured. 25 Sep 50, three railroad cars of rations arrived at NAMWON. Immediately upon arrival, the rations were carried by civilians to the front line units. Aside from his one supply, the div supply dump did not receive or handle any rations. Heard that the troops were living off the land.
Clothing: Div supply received 4,000 summer uniforms, 25 Sep 50. The uniforms arrived by truck from SEOUL. Div supply had no stock of winter uniforms and there were no indications that any supplies were to be received.
Ammunition: Div supply and 200 rounds of 122-mm Howitzer ammunition, 10 tons of 76-mm ammunition, and on undetermined quantity of small arms ammunition, 30 Sep 50, but were unable to haul the supplies to the front because of the lack of transportation. The 122-mm ammunition was useless because the division had no guns of that calibre. Dic supply dump was located 4 km E of NAMWON.

Equipment:
Vehicles: The 7th Div had 35 new ZIS-151 trucks and about 30 Japanese trucks when it was activated on 3 Aug 50. After 15 Sep 50, none of the trucks were operable because of the lack of fuel. Div Hqs and Div supply had only 6 trucks, 15 Sep 50.
Artillery: Except for the 7 x 76-mm Howitzers received on 16 Sep 50, the division had no artillery pieces. Because of the lack of transportation, the pieces were inoperable.

Morale:
Morale of the rear echelon troops was high until the early part of Sep 50, but since that date, because of the lack of supplies, the men had lost their confidence and began to talk of defeat.

4. GENERAL:
N. Korean Currency Information:
Rate of exchange - 1 NK WON: * ROK WON
Extent of Usage: The N Koreans had faith in their currency and it was the only medium of exchange. ROK citizens did not accept the NK currency for payment.
Red Cross Insignias: Red Cross insignia was painted on some of the NKA hospital trucks and buildings used in housing patients. Some of the trucks had insignia painted on both sides only, while others had insignia painted on both sides, top and rear. Insignia was sometimes painted on the door of hospital and aid stations.
