FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS - 1033)　4 October 1950

PW was cooperative. Limited information. No further interrogation recommended.

24 Jul 50 - Inducted into NKPA in P'YONGYANG (平壤). No basic training.

27 Jul 50 - Assigned to 7757th Engr Bn, 503rd Rd Regt, 1,980 men in Regt. No arms.

1 Sep 50 - 330 men departed P'YONGYANG by march, arrived SEOUL 12 Sep 50, and were told to continue on to TAEJON for equipment and weapons.

16 Sep 50 - Departed SEOUL, marched, arrived TAEJON 21 Sep 50. There were no arms and equipment to be found in TAEJON.

22 Sep 50 - Departed TAEJON, arrived SOSANG (西上) 24 Sep 50.

27 Sep 50 - Retreated to MUNUI. Captured here, 30 Sep 50, by UN Forces. There had never been any weapons or ammunition issued.

PW states that while he was in NK, he noticed the shortage of men of conscript age (18 to 35). Conscription of men whose ages ranged from 35 to 50 is now common practice. These men are conscripted to serve as Home Guards without arms or ammunition. PW also stated that the only NKPA troops that are in NK now are the AA units in P'YONGYANG and WONSAN (元山). PW strongly denies there are any Div's in NK. Say that all Divs and troops were sent to the front, also, that there is no more equipment available. People are living on starvation rations. There has been no rice for two (2) months.
