1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
He was cooperative but seemed unintelligent. Information limited. Not recommended fro further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
6 Sep 49: Inducted into the NKPA at CHUKCH'ON (竹川) and assigned to Engr Plt, 3rd Brig. Received Engr basic training until Dec 1949. The training consisted mainly of setting and locating mines.
30 Jun 50: Transferred to 2nd Plt, Training Co, Ind Engr Bn, 9th Div at KAESONG (開城).
9 Jun 50: Promoted to Sgt (中士) at KAESONG and appointed sqd ldr.
1 Sep 50: The 9th Div was 8 km SE of HYOPCH'ON (陜川). Remained here for about 5 days and prepared to cross the NAKTONG River.
8 Sep 50: The 9th Div crossed the NAKTONG River and took up positions 12 km E of HYOPCH'ON. Suffered heavy casualties.
10 Sep 50: The PW was promoted to Sr/Sgt (上士).
20 Sep 50: The 9th Div retreated and arrived at KUMCH'ON (金泉). The Div was driven back further.
25 Sep 50: Only PW's plt (20 men) retreated to YONGDONG (永同). Disposition of main elements of 9th Div unknown. At YONGDONG PW overslept and was left behind by his plt.
27 Sep 50: PW captured by ROK troops 3 km N of YONGDONG.

Unit Organization & Strength:
Original strength of the Ind Engr Bn was 250 but was reduced to 200 at the time of the KUMCH'ON retreat.

Equpment:
The Ind Engr Bn was equipped with the following:
3 x VIM-203 mine detectors
50 x POMZ-2 type mines
60 x TM 41 anti-tank mines
70 x SMGs
150 x rifles
When the Bn retreated to KUMCH'ON there were 40 TM 41 anti-tank mines and 30 POMZ-2 type mines in the Bn. He believed that other mines were left at the NAKTONG front.

4. GENERAL:
At the NAKTONG front, PW observed four (4) US PsW. The prisoners were taken to the 9th Div Hqs which was located 12 km SE of HYOPCH'ON at tins time. Two of the prisoners had leg wounds. The wounds were dressed with bandages.
