2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be intelligent. He was cooperative and talked freely.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
5 Aug ’50 - Inducted at PYONGYANG and attached to 107, Ind Security Regt, 27 Bn HQ.
MOVEMENT OF UNIT: When PW was attached to 27 Bn, this Bn was stationed at NAMYANG (南陽).
15 Sep ’50 - 27 Bn left NAMYANG- and arrived BUPYONG (富平) on 17 Sep ’50.
18 Sep ’50 - 27 Bn left BUPYONG and arrived SAM NAM LEE (三南里) on 19 Sep ’50.
27 Bn was absorbed into the 32nd Bn.
20 Sep ’50 - New 32nd Bn left SAM NAM LEE and headed for KUMPO.
21 Sep ’50 - 32nd Bn was annihilated near KIMPO.

4. UNIT ORGANIZATION:
107 Ind Security Regt I


5. STRENGTH OF UNIT:
107 Ind Security HQ was in KUMPO. Strength of 107 Ind security Regt was unknown. However, 27 Inf Bn had strength of 770 men.
Other Bn’s strength was presumably same.

6. WEAPONS:
1 (82mm) artillery gun, 8 (60mm) artillery guns, 4 rocket (60mm?), 4 HMG, 25 IMG and about 450 rifles were observed in 27 Inf Bn.
Number of weapons in other Bns was presumably same.

7. PERSONALITIES:

8. MORALE:
Morale of 107 Ind Security Regt was extremely low.
The regimental commander of 107 Ind Security Regt was shot to death for withdrawing his unit from an important defense line without orders. Food - 3 meals a day, 300 grams per meal. Meals mainly consisted of rice, beans, soup, potatoes.

9. CAPTURED WEAPONS:
4 captured US mortars and 90 rds of ammunition were observed in 27 Bn.

10. AMMUNITION SUPPLY:
Subject heard that practically all military property in PYONGYANG such as ammunition dumps, food warehouses were moved to SADON (10km E of PYONGYANG) because of intense air bombardment.

11. RAILROAD:
Railroad between WONSAN and PYONGYANG was in operation except for one section from TOG WON to WONSAN where bridges were destroyed.
Observation made on 3 Aug ’50.

12. CIVILIAN SENTIENT TOWARD UN:
Anti-Communistic feeling among WONSAN people has been increasing tremendously as Communistic and military activity intensified in North Korea. Fishing boats have been prohibited to use the harbor since the out break of the war.
Since the establishment of the Communistic Government in 1946, citizens of WONSAN have been complaining about the strict regime.
PW believes that people of WONSAN are hoping that UN Forces come to liberate them from Communism.

13. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
WONSAN:   (OBS 2 Aug ’50)
(A) Troops: Subject believes approx 5,000-6,000 troops in WONSAN area.
(B) Harbor: Fluctuation of tide was practically none. The WONSAN Harbor was believed to be quite deep. A concrete break water extended about 300m to the east from the main land and 50m from the lighthouse island (see sketch).
(C) Mines: Subject believed no land mines along beach or water mines near beach because people were allowed to swim there.
(D) Beach Defense: (see sketch)
A trench was dug on the side of the mountain which was located approx 50 m from beach.
There were about 10 pill boxes constructed with dirt along the beach.
Distance between these pill boxes was approx 200m.
These pill boxes were connected by a trench about 1m wide. No weapons (such as machine guns) were observed.
(E) Other naval vessels: PW observed 2 naval vessels several times which he thought were destroyers, anchored between the island and the main land.
