The mountains at KAESONG, overlooking the road from SEOUL to PYONGYANG, and at YONPYONG, overlooking the road from SEOUL to WONDAN, and at PUPYONG and YANGYANG were well fortified.
The pill boxes and trenches weft constructed on the side of the mountains facing the road so that the road would be covered from any direction.
PW observed the following border security Unit near 38th parallel:
3rd Ind Brig (later became 9th Div) at CHUCHON
7th Ind Brig ( 〃 7th Div) at SIBYON RI
1st Ind Brig ( 〃 8th Div) at KANSONG
The 38th parallel line was divided into three sections. The west section included the area from CHANGHYON to YESONG river and was under the 3rd Ind Brig which had its Hq in SIBYON RI. The area from MANSEGYO RI to the east coast was under the 1st Ind Brig which had its hq in KANSONG.
These brigades advanced to South KOREA as soon as the war started and became divisions, and the vacant posts were taken over by three newly organized border security battalions.

(C) REMARKS:
PW believes that the NK troops in the southern front will fight until the end though they might not be able to put up a good fight because of their tremendous losses of weapons and personnel. PW also thinks that they will attempt to defend the 38 parallel.
PW believes this war to be a struggle between Communism and Democracy not a war between North and South KOREA.
