2. ASSESSMENT:
PW talked freely and seemed intelligent. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
1 Aug 50: Inducted in NK Security force through the MINCH’ONG (民靑) Communist Youth Organization. Received ont month training at HWANGJU (黃州).
1 Sep 50: Commissioned Jr Lt. Departed on foot with approx 200 man including 19 Jr Lts.
9 Sep 50: Arrived SEOUL. The 19 Jr Lts including PR were ordered to depart for TAEJON by train to join the 109th Security Regt.
11 Sep 50: Arrived TAEJON. Assigned to 109th Security Regt, 37th Bn, 3rd Co, 4th Plt as plt ldr. Stayed 10 days.
21 Sep 50: Arrived NONSAN (論山) with the 37th Bn (120 men). The Bn as yet had no weapons or equipment. Stayed 5 days.
25 Sep 50: The Bn CO ordered PW to remain in NONSAN and wait for the 120 replacements arriving in a far days than report to TAEJON. The Bn CO, impersonating a civilian, deserted the Bn.
26 Sep 50: The 37th Bn received l20 new replacements
27 Sep 50: Bn dissolved after learning the war situation and PW with 5 officers of 5 officers of the 3rd Co departed NONSAN on foot.
29 Sep 50: Arrived MUNUI. PW obtained civilian clothes and was captured by the ROK forces.

Unit Organization and Strength:
The 109th Security Regt consisted of the 37th, 38th, 39th, 40th and possibly two other Bns. Tho 39th Bn (approx 300 men) consisted of three (3) Cos.

Equipment:
No equipmont in 37 Bn except for one pistol which was carried by Bn CO.

Unit History:
The 109th Security was activated on 21 Sep 50 at TAEJON. All members of unit were newly conscripted South Koreans except for officers.

Intentions:
On 26 Sep 50 the 37th Bn received 120 reinforcements and was to regroup at TAEJON whore the 109th Security Regt Hq was located.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of the l09th Regt personnel was low as most members wore recruited in South KOREA. Also tho Regt had no equipment or arms and there was a shortage of uniforms. 50% of the 37th Bn personnel were civilian clothes. PW never saw UN propaganda leaflets. NKPA propaganda leaflets were to the a following offects:
1. The Americans tortured NKPA PsW.
2. The Americans are invading KOREA and intend to colonize all of KOREA.

4. GENERAL:
PW heard about the INCH’ON landing on 26 Sep 50. PW observed Red Cross markings on NKPA field hospital at TAEJON.
