2. ASSESSMENT:
PW had not completely recovered from yellow jaundice and repeatedly complained about a headache. PW was captured by US forces, Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
20 Mar 48: PW was inducted at SONGJIN and was assigned to the 5th RR Guard Regt, 5th Bn. Received one year of training.
15 May 49: The 5th RR Guard Regt was reorganized and it was designated the 10th RR Security Regt., PW being assigned to the 4th Bn, 4th Co.
27 Jun 49: The 10th RR Guard Regt departed SONGJIN on a troop train.
29 Jun 49: Arrived at P’YONGYANG. The 10th RR Guard Regt was stationed in P’YONGYANG for one year engaging in loading and unloading ammunition and provision at the freight station.
27 Jun 50: The 10th RR Guard Regt was again reorganized and it was designated the Security Forces, 10th Regt. PW was attached to the 12th Bn, 2nd Co, 1st Plt, 3rd Sqd
28 Jun 50: The 2nd Co, 12th Bn, 10th Regt departed P’YONGYANG by train preceding the other units.
30 Jun 50: Arrived in SEOUL.
15 Jul 50: The remaining units of the 10th Security Regt arrived in SEOUL and they were ordered to train the SK Volunteer Corps.
15 Jul 50: PW was promoted to Sgt (中士) and he became the sqd leader of the 3rd Sqd, 1st Plt, 2nd Co, 12th Bn.
14 Aug 50: The 12th Bn departed SEOUL by train. PW heard that 10th Security Forces Regt Hqs remained in SEOUL and the different units were assigned to the different areas in South KOREA.
18 Aug 50: The 12th Bn arrived in TAEJON. They were immediately ordered to guard the railroad between TAEJON and KUMCH’ON.
15 Sep 50: PW was hospitalized for yellow jaundice. He heard that the 2nd Co of the 12th Bn left TAEJON for SEOUL the same day he was sent to the hospital.
25 Sep 50: PW was released from hospital, and was ordered to start marching for SEOUL, He heard that the hospital was going to bo transferred to SEOUL,
27 Sep 50: 1 Km North of PUGONG-NI (富谷里) captured by US soldiers. The 2nd Co, 12th Bn had 120 men (15 Sep 50).

Equipment:
The 2nd Co of the 12th Bn, 10th Security Regt had the following weapons: Each platoon had one (1) LMG and one (1) submachine gun.

Unit History:
The Security Forces, 10th Regt was organized at P’YONGYANG on 15 May 49. It was formerly the 5th RR Guard Regt. The code number of the Security Forces, 10th Regt was 6765, The code number of the 12th Bn was 2894.

Dispositions:
The Security Forces, 10th Regt Hqs was located in SEOUL. PW heard that the 12th Bn left TAEJON 15 Sep 50 for SEOUL by train.

Intentions:
PW heard that the 10th Security Regt Hqs had withdrawn to P’YONGYANG and the 12th Bn was also ordered to withdraw to P’YONGYANG via SEOUL (as of 15 Sep 50).

Personalities:
The Security Forces, 10th Regt CO was Maj Gen (少將) LEE Hung Yom (이흥염). PW heard that thw CO was a graduate of the YONHI University (延嬉) in SEOUL and was a leader of the Communist organization in P’YONGYANG for more than 20 years.

Morale & Propaganda:
Approximately 40% of the troops were drafted from the Volunteer Corps but the morale was fairly high up to the time that they were ordered to withdraw from TAEJON to SEOUL. None of the units participated in actual combat and food supply was always adequate. PW had never seen US propaganda leaflets, however, he heard about them in TAEJON.
