2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, but lacked military information. He claims he was made an officer because of his knowledge of automobiles.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
5 Oct 46 - Inducted into the NKPA at NANAM.
O/a 15 Jul 49 - PW was attached to the 5th Regt, 4th Div at P'YONGYANG.
1 Sep 50 - PW's truck Co was stationed in SINBAN-Ni (新反里). The 5th Regt was on the defensive at a position near CH'ONGNYONG east of the NAKTONG River.
22 Sep 50 - The 5th Regt retreated across the NAKTONG River.
23 Sep 50 - The Regt entered HYOPCH'ON. PW's Transportation Co moved into MYOSAN, a village 11km from HYOPCH'ON on the road to KOCH'ANG (居昌). The 5th Regt was supposed to take a defensive position on the hill immediately W of HYOPCH'ON.
25 Sep 50 - PW ordered the 20 remaining EM in his Transportation Co to the hills to avoid UN air attack. He remained with the one remaining truck in MYOSAN. PW surrendered without resistance to US troops who entered MYOSAN.
PW believed the 4th Div Hq at time of his capture was in KOCH'ANG.

4th DIVISION:
5th Regt: Original strength was about 2,700. Current strength estimated to be about 200.
Truck Co : Original strength 36, present strength 20.

Equipment:
Transportation Co was authorized 6 trucks, but PW's Co originally had 4 x GAZ-5 trucks. As of 23 Sep 50, there was one truck left.

Supply:
Claims that he knows of no supply dumps. All supplies were brought to the Regt Supply Depot by the Div Truck Bn. From the Regtl Supply to the Bn Supply dump.
Generally the Transportation Co hauled supply during the night. During one night they could haul only 3 days supply of food and 2 days supply of ammunition. Often no supplies came from the Division so the Truck Co was idle for several days.

Morale & Propaganda:
When PW first saw UN Safe Conduct Leaflets o/a 1 Sep 50, the general felling among troops was the UN troops were the ones who ought to surrender. But PW believes that troops are now giving these leaflets serious thought.

He was transferred to Corps Hqs o/a 30 Aug 50.
Div Supply Asst Supply Officer: KIM, Chin Su (金珍秀), Lt Col.

4. GENERAL:
O/a 25 Jul 50, PW saw about 10 US PsW at SUWON who were enroute to SEOUL. He heard that these PsW were artillery men. Treatment, unknown.
