Casualties:
PW estimated that the number of troops killed in action was about 50% of the number of wounded. Approx 10% of the wounded died as the result of their wounds.
In many instances, especially during the period from 1 Sep 50, to 18 Sep 50, the unit casualties were not evacuated to the rear because of enemy advances. In such instances, the wounded were left behind with aid men.

Morale:
Until 1 Sep 50, morale of the troops was extremely high. PW believes that this was because the 2nd Div had been resting for about a month previously. After crossing the river, the division met strong UN opposition and was not able to occupy CH'ANGYONG (昌寧) as had been planned. The intensity of the opposition and especially the superior equipment of the UN Forces made the men begin to realized that will power alone could not win a war.
PW saw propaganda leaflets but they did not affect him, but realized that it had some favorable effect on the troops.
