3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
Oct 47: PW volunteered for 3rd Inf Ind Brigade, P’YONGYANG. Assigned to 3rd Bn. Received basic training.
8 Feb 48: NKPA organized. 3rd Inf Ind Brigade, P’YONGYANG, deactivated. Unit reactivated as 3rd Div. PW assigned to 9th Inf Regt, P’YONGYANG.
Aug 48: 9th Inf Regt transferred to HAMHUNG (咸興).
Dec 48: PW promoted to M/Sgt (特務上士), personnel Sgt Hq, 9th Inf Regt
Jun 49: 9th Inf Regt transferred to KUMHWA (金化). 7th Inf Regt stationed in CH’ORWON (鐵元). 8th Inf Regt stationed in WONSAN (元山). Div Arty Regt stationed with Div Hq in WONSAN.
15 May 50: PW promoted to Jr Lt (少尉), Regt’l personnel officer.
25 Jun 50: 9th Inf Regt left KUMHWA by truck. Crossed 38° parallel same day.
26 Jun 50: 9th Inf Regt arrived at P’OCH’ON (浦川). Joined by other 3rd Div units. Continued advance in southerly direction.
1 Aug 50: 3rd Div arrived at KUMCH’ON (金泉). Continued on foot to wooded hills 12 km West of WAEGWAN (倭館). 9th Inf Regt crossed NAKTONG River at point (location unknown) south of WAEGWAN. PW and 20 others from 9th Inf Regt remained behind in hills to direct supplies to forward units east of the NAKTONG River.
17 Sep 50: PW’s patry withdraw from hills (12km West of WAEGWAN) to POUN.
25 Sep 50: PW suffering from previous leg affliction, unable to keep up with withdrawing unit. Remained behind in wooded hill 8km south of POUN.
25 1900 K Sep: PW captured by US Army unit in wooded hill.
