2. ASSESSMENT:
Prior to his induction, PW although a member of the NK Communist Youth Organization, denied being a Communist sympathizer. His observation and memory were fair. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
3 Jul 50: Conscripted in the NKPA at P’YONGYANG with 1,600 technical College students. Received instructions on HMG for 23 days.
27 Jul 50: Departed P’YONGYANG with 150 conscripts.
2 Aug 50: Arrived at SEOUL by rail.
6 Aug 50: Arrived at WONJU on foot.
11 Aug 50: Arrived at HANCH’ANG on foot. The 150 men, including the PW were promoted to Jr Lt’s (少尉). Assigned to the 8th Div with 10 other officers. The other officers assigned to Ⅱ Corps, ultimate destination unknown.
17 Aug 50: Arrived at UISONG (義城) on foot with two other officers.
22 Aug 50: Arrived at a point 8 km S of UISONG and assigned to the Guard Plt, 2nd Regt, 8th Div. Guard Plt together with a SMG Plt and another Guard Plt guarded the Hqs of the 2nd Regt.
2 Sep 50: The 2nd Regt Hq advanced to a point 12 km N of SINNYONG (新寧).
18 Sep 50: Due to heavy enemy rifle fire, the 2nd Regt retreated to UIHUNG (義興) with 1200 casualties. He stated that the C/S of the 2nd Regt was killed near SINNYONG by a hand grenade while commanding the 2nd Regt.
22 Sep 50: The 2nd Regt was driven back to UIHUNG.
23 Sep 50: While the 2nd Regt was retreating N from UIHUNG, the PW and five privates were left behind.
24 Sep 50: He was captured alone by five ROK soldiers at 1 km N of UISONG. After he was captured he heard from a medical soldiers of the 2nd Regt that the 2nd Regt was completely isolated in a mountain 500 m E of “TAMNI”.

Equipment: (at T'AMNI)
As of 23 1900 Sep 1950 the 8th Div had the following equipment:
8 x T-34 tanks, 35 x 45mm AT guns, 76mm Field guns and 122mm Howitzers, 4 x trucks loaded with ammunition and rice.
Heard from one of the drivers that these weapons were to be shipped to ANDONG (安東). On the evening of 24 Sep 50 all the above weapons except six T-34 tanks were captured at T’AMNI by the ROK Army (Hearsay from ROK officer). Prior to the 2nd Inf Regt’s retreat, it was heard from his assistant plt leader that about 100 T-34 tanks were being shipped to the 8th Div. The ass’t sqd leader heard this from the 8th Div Hq when he went there as a liaison officer. The Div Hq was located at TAMNI at this time. Source of the tanks was unknown but assumed it to be from RUSSIA.

Dispositions:
23 Sep 50, he heard from a major in the 2nd Regt that 8th Div was to withdraw to ANDONG (安東) regroup and start an offensive again. The offensive was to be with the 1st Div which was also to be regrouped at ANDONG.
